Deep, thoughtful analysis.

This is the first site that has listed anyone other than UTA as the favorite. The only favorites will be who the top of the pre-season poll, which will be UTA.

I get why we are overlooked with our history, so I don’t care about that. Georgia Southern was rated highly due to Brown and Smith. I’d take Neal and Hervey over either of this two, and it not because I don’t think they are good.

And you guys have one more year left in this window before Hervey and Co graduate. UTA Men's basketball sort of reminds me of AState's women. Great team that dominates Regular season play, but lays an egg in the tournament when it counts, and getting stuck in the NIT without the recruiting edge that an NCAA Berth brings.

Side note: Our Men's team should be pretty salty this year. Wouldn't shock me to see us challenge at the top of the league. Lost our leading scorer from last year, but are far deeper, and we're going to be using a style of play that no one else in the league uses, making us difficult to prepare for.

Arkansas State and Texas State, are, to me, the unknowns for this year. Both could be really good. Or they could me, meh.

I'm tellin ya, this league can be good. But we HAVE to get good OOC wins this year, and not $%!& the bed against teams we should beat OOC.

Teams will be able to take NOTHING for granted once league play starts.

We have been in the top half of the SBC every year we have been a member. We'll be just fine.

As for our comparison, we had one bad year in the tourney. The year prior, Hervey, a candidate for player of the year and who the team moved through was injured. After a rough four games, they recovered and figured out how to play. They finished strong, third in the standings. They lost to a team that was legitimately better in the tourney. Nothing wrong with that.

D'Marcus Simonds will be the best player on the floor in every conference game this year.

Nope. Full court press defensively after every make and every miss for 40 minutes straight. Combination of what Louisville ran under Petino (No, not the escort service) and Arkansas ran in the early 90's

So, Arkansas' 40 minutes of Hell, Gotcha. . .

You know that "triple option" comment was just a poor attempt at humor . .

Carry On. . .

I like the trajectory that Kaspar has us on, but the God's honest truth, I look at this year's schedule and see very little to get excited about . . . Very meh . . very vanilla.

Neal and Hervey looked pretty good yesterday in uta's win over oklahoma. worrysome tho is how fast our two 7 footers pile up fouls.

On misses? Translates into layups unless you have the talent to run it. Good luck with that.

John Pelphrey brought that same style to USA a while back after playing for Pitino and being an assistant for Donovan. He wasn't very successful his first few years until he improved the roster and learned to play different styles based on the opponent.
