I've been trying to follow it on Ragin pagin; but not enough info at this point to really know what's going on. He can be a PITA to work with at times; but a heck of a coach! He will always push the envelope with the administration.

Pretty simple I suspect. Coach wants more money budgeted to the program, admin says it must go to football and basketball. Coach gets pissed and yells at admin. Admin says get out of my office and by the way, you are suspended for a few weeks. Be more humble and thankful next time.

You don't put a coach on administrative leave without it being serious.

The Cajuns softball park is nicer than most DI baseball parks. Hard for me to believe the program is getting starved.

If I had to guess, he will soon be terminated. The way things have leaked to the press in his release from a lawyer leads me to believe he wanted to steer the story. I’d be shocked if he didn’t cross solid boundaries. We probably do have some Title IX issues he can point to, but if I were a betting man, he’ll be fired with cause.

I don’t have any inside info, just pure speculation.

My thoughts exactly, especially not the most successful coach your University has ever had.

Did this happen with a previous Cajuns softball coach? I thought something weird went down in that situation as well (unless I'm thinking of a previous weird situation with this one).

In her case she wanted more for the program on the field and financially than the administration was willing to provide. After turning down a number of job offers over the year for larger programs and lots more money, she finally said yes to LSU. There was some animosity about the method of her leaving and how she actually tried to hurt the program which she later "somewhat" apologized by saying she didn't handle things well when she left. They had a game a couple of years ago to "honor" her and she's been to some games since then.

Other than my guess that he really pissed off some admin guys, what do you think happened with the coach.

From everything I've seen and read about this situation, it looks to me like Lotief put ULL's administration in a position where they had no other choice but to fire him. There's no doubt that Lotief is a good women's softball coach, but women's softball doesn't move the needle at any university. Lotief way over estimated how much influence he had at ULL, and now he's paid the price for it. It's a shame for Cajun fans, but I agree with ULL's administration's decision.

Not in the sense you probably mean. Lots of verbal abuse, some physical abuse. Assaulted a female S&C coach. There is a long list of complaints from players and former players about his abusive behavior, but the actions with the female coach were apparently the immediate catalyst.
