From a business perspective, I get it, but I think MLS should be primarily concerned with growing the game here.

One of the things that ticks American sports fans off most is when their team up and leaves town. Now that MLS is really starting to gain some traction, I'm afraid this might set a dangerous precedent. I was hoping the MLS teams would be more community centered like you get in Europe.

That precedent was set more in MLS than 10 years ago, when the billionaire owner of the San Jose Earthquakes moved the franchise to Houston because San Jose wouldn't build him a soccer stadium with public money.

Well, that shows you how long I've been following it then...lol

I'm surprised Austin is the potential destination and not San Antonio. San Antonio proper is larger than Dallas proper (and therefore larger than Austin proper), its support of the San Antonio Spurs is terrific and a huge percentage of its population would easily follow the team. I'm not saying Austin couldn't but I would think San Antonio would be the better option. Plus, they could rename the team the San Antonio Scorpions which is a local favorite.

In this case, I agree because of the way the San Antonio market is. It's much more likely than the NHL, NFL and MLB. But disposable income is strained in San Antonio. It's already a miracle the Spurs do as well as they do.

FTR, the NFL would be the best sport for San Antonio, all things being equal.
