Game Week: Coming Home vs. WMU
Or Homecoming... It is homecoming and yes, after three tough consecutive road losses (KY, TOL and Army) they are coming home to face Western.

Let's hope the bounces go our way...

Crazy. I believe it was last week (correct?) that WMU beat UB in 7 OTs.

This season is a crazy one. And I've never seen an EMU season as crazy as this one.

Just took a quick look at the WMU board. Looks like those folks are a little pissed at the coaching. Could there possibly be problems in their football paradise?

It'll be interesting to see how WMU responds next week. I'm confident that the EMU team will be ready to play.

Dear WoodenNickle,
I agree with you, and would think Eastern has a very good chance to win this one.

You guys should be favored in this one. If not, I need to find a bookie. 'Anything can happen', but you guys oughta win this one. Perhaps handily.

I take it you haven't seen our offense very much this year. We almost broke 30 points for the first time this season against Army, so we have that going for us.

I expect a low scoring game similar to the ones we've had all season. First one to 20 likely wins.

We're 2-4, you're 4-3, right there with Toledo as early season favorites, stocked with some of the best talent in the MAC.

Never seen a fan base so high 1 week, and so negative the next?

I agree EMU is hungry to show we're better than our record so far. Time for a little payback for the years under Fleck and his four star recruiting classes. Stars don't matter when you're on the field. However keep the ball away from Phillips.

A win Saturday might set up one of those 'Silky Sullivan' (the famous race horse who started the KY Derby something like 50 lengths behind and then came on gang busters) finish.

I can see a really strong finish to the season.

WMU is probably glad to get out of Dodge, er, I mean K'zoo. Horror story of how everyone coped.

The photo in this story looks like from some hurricane.

Nice weather forecast for Saturday. An in-state rival that received a lot of publicity last year. Homecoming. Michigan playing a night game on the road.

This should be the biggest crowd in rynearson in the last twenty-plus years. Hoping that the athletic department really promotes this. A little media coverage this week would help too. Wouldn't be surprised if Gorecki writes something for Detnews (he's a Western Alum that lives in Ypsi). I have zero confidence in MLive to pull any reports out of their colon though. Not that they are a legit news source anyway.

Really expecting that big a crowd?

I have a hard time judging local support (as I don't live in MI). I'm excited by all of the exciting FB I've seen this year, yet 'fair weather' fans might not be.

BTW, if EMU alums, etc. are interested in EMU FB the best media/advertising is simply watching games on CBSSN the past two weeks vs. Toledo and Army. Seven hours worth of media coverage.
Two exciting games.

Very possible that WMU turns out a nice sized crowd.

BTW, anyone who went to the game Saturday at West Point didn't see the colors changing. 03-weeping but saw a GREAT Game Day atmosphere. Most likely the best in G5. Might be like what WMU saw a few times last year. Didn't see any drunk students (yes, this is good news since this was the military academy) but still a lively atmosphere.

The pageantry of an Army homecoming is amazing. If you can, October 17, 2020, circle that date on your calendar for the trip to West Point. Parachuting, helicopters, etc. etc. Curious if we'll be their homecoming opponent again?

I drove through the academy on the way home. Quite a sight to see.

Your MAC losses were nailbiters to the pre-season division favorites. Shoot, I'm sure you guys know that you were just a handful of points here and there to being undefeated right now.

The only thing that might stop you guys would be some demoralization because of all those close losses, but I don't think that'll be the case. Despite the disparity in records, you guys are playing better, more consistent ball right now. I still think Creighton is the most impressive coach in the MAC, would've loved to have him on our sidelines.

As 'exciting' as the Buffalo marathon win was (a win is a win is a win), there was still a sense of "uh oh" from many aspects of the game. We all expected a step back this season, although - perhaps a bit arrogantly - we thought our MAC East opponents would be easier to plow through.

I expect a big crowd as well, but maybe not the biggest crowd in the past 20 years.

I will be there! Flying in Thursday night. Who else will I see tailgating?

That Drew Anderson guy is a really good QB though. Really tough to stop. He made Buffalo a top MAC team, I am convinced (not sure if he is going to miss games after being knocked out of the game against NIU).

Am I the only one looking at the remaining schedule and thinking EMU has a realistic shot at running the table?

Lester may turn out to be good, bad, or somewhere in between, only a couple seasons will tell the tale. Still can't figure out why you guys paid him almost 25% more than the next highest paid MAC coach, and nearly double most other MAC coaches, when he had no other teams pursuing him, and no other real track record of success?

Anyways, see you in Ypsi on Saturday, should be a great game.

I know this is very far O/T for a MAC team board, but if someone wants to see a real turnaround effect of a tremendous newcomer QB look at Caylin Newton at FCS Howard.

Last year Howard was a terrible FCS team. They got clobbered in the weak MEAC.

Then along comes Cam's younger bro. He lights it up in Vegas as Howard might have pulled the biggest upset in FBS history.

Then almost beat Kent. And now doing well in their conference.

I haven't seen the UB QB, but a very, very effective dual threat QB, can boost a team's stock greatly. Remember, the difference between a lot of MAC team isn't much (for our visitors to this forum: EMU has lost 4 games by 7 pts, OT; 4, 5, and 1).

There is no 2016 WMU team in the conference this year. TOL didn't look like it when they hosted us a week ago.
