How weird is it that all of the stAte posters are defending the Cajuns?

I do agree, however. I wouldn't want to be responsible for putting a spread on this game, EVER. This is always the toughest game of the year for us.

I disagree. stAte covered the spread at Nebraska, Ga So, and this week. Did not cover against SMU when Hansen was hurt. I don't recall (or care) about the line against UAPB.

Love the UL game, but I think stAte will win by 3 scores on Thursday night

We didn't cover with UAB, but that line was ridiculously large.

Actually being serious about this. You have CoonA$$es in Lafayette and Hillbillies in Jonesboro. So we call it the CoonBilly Trophy. We can have a huge Golden Trophy of Louisiana, and Arkansas. Or we make up a Trophy that is pure Gold of a person that has qualities of Troy from SwampPeople, and hillbilly with some overalls and a Rifle.

Or got another idea, but more realistic the Trophy can be the CoonBilly Trophy, and the Trophy can be an Accordion, and a Banjo?! You have a huge Boot Trophy, and have a Banjo for Arkansas and an accordion on Louisiana.

Hillbillies are in the Ozarks in the northwestern part of Arkansas. No Ozarks in Jonesboro. We are in the Delta.

This is like saying people in Boone are sea pirates because they live in North Carolina.

So Arkansas Razorback fans lol. Yeah but Arkansas is identified with this culture I know it comes out of the Ozarks but Beverly Hillbillies, or the movie Deliverance (bad example). There is a good idea somewhere out there.

Anyone north of I-10 is a hillbilly.
Jokes--I dont even know what that means.

I'm hoping our offense and defense play a complete game at the same time for once this season. If our O and D play at the level they have AT TIMES, we win this one. If not, it could get ugly.
Our attendance on Thursday was horrible. What are yall expecting?

ROADKILL TROPHY!!
Red Wolves (and people from the Arkansas hills) and Cajuns both eat Possums. Let's have a trophy of a dead possum and call it the Roadkill Trophy COGS

Just as a correction, there have been three instances where the visitors have won.

Cajuns won under Rickey Bustle. Arkansas State was decimated by injuries to the offensive line. They were on, like, their fifth center by the time we played.

Cajuns also won in Brian Harsin's only season. Held the RW's to seven points.

And, Arkansas State hung 50 on the Cajuns in Lafayette in 2014.

Oh yes I remember that game. From the AP article write up..."until the Red Wolves (2-6, 1-3) rallied behind redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Aplin, who led the team to 15 fourth-quarter points."

Aplin started the next game...04-rock

For the record BOP, our win in Lafayette was 2012 under Malzahn when Aplin was a senior. That was the famous "run it again" game when we ran the same play like 12-15 times for huge gains each time. Coaching staff could be heard on the sideline during the game yelling "run it again"

You guys returned the favor in 2013 in a game in which it became very clear that Harsin's offense was not going to work here.

2014 was the ugly game when there were multiple ejections and ended when members of both coaching staffs having words at midfield. In AState lore, that was the game that Anderson decided to run a fake punt out of our own end zone in a close game to disastrous results. League Office had to send letters of reprimand to both programs after that game since the ugliness was on full display for a national TV audience on a Tuesday Night. ESPN never picked up the series on a Tuesday again.

Harsin's "I surrender" game when the boobirds came out.

Oh yeah. That was the game when Harsin punted on Fourth and short from midfield down 2 scores midway through the 4th quarter. I remember a lot of fans just getting up and walking out after that moment.

There have been a lot of wild moments recently in this series:

2009: Cajuns win against a bad AState team in Jonesboro, but it was the last game before Ryan Aplin took over as starting QB

2010: Conference office decided to schedule a freaking 3pm game in early September in Lafayette. On field temperature over 100 degrees. Thought players would faint from heat exhaustion at multiple points.

2011: Both teams came into the mid November game undefeated in league play. Turned into a defacto title game that AState won in Jonesboro

2012: AState embarrasses the Cajuns in Lafayette under Malzahn.

2013: Some dude named Elijah McGuire ran us over in Jonesboro as Harsin capitulated

2014: The ugly fight fest in Lafayette that I'm amazed didn't end in a Brawl.

2015: AState beats bad Cajuns team in Jonesboro during Cajuns one non bowl year under Hud

2016: Wild final play TD reversed on review giving Cajuns win in Lafayette.

The problem is your teams are not similarly talented.

Again people get the wrong impression of just how good your team is early on based on the Blake Anderson "funky recruiting" effect.

The good thing is, even if your coaching staff is continuing to struggle getting the basics down, they really have to go out of their way to lose to an SBC team because of how successful they are in their "funky recruiting". I mean way out of their way.

I mean they can do all kinds of stupid things that should get any team beat and still win just because they have a lot more talent than the teams they are playing in the SBC.

.

Let me tell you somethin'.

Yes. The Cajuns are going through a rough patch. Couple of losing seasons, and this year's struggles. We've definitely hit some hard times.

It's OK. We're used to that down here. The oil industry bottomed out just when we got Brian Mitchell, and did the same again just when we go to a few Bowl games and win 36 in 4 years. Hard Times.

But, Cajuns NEVER quit. We willed out a couple of wins the last 2 games, and the pulse is beating. We are not fortunate enough down here to have all of those shiny SBC trophys you guys got. I'm thinking we need to give stAte a little taste of Hard Times......

I'm going to assume every SBC team is going to take their best shot and I expect someone will beat them. I have them with anywhere from 0-2 losses in SBC play, with one loss likely( just not Troy).

Could be ULL, they were more talented than ULL, or UCA or Utah State last year and managed to find a way to lose to all of them.

The thinking now is that with Anderson calling plays, --and he appears to be pretty good at it,as opposed to whatever he did his first three years( think he said he focused on reaching out to the community), getting beat by less talented teams will happen less often.

and for the record, I'm only talking about player talent, not coaching.

While Blake Anderson is proving that he is pretty darn good calling plays and helping coordinate the offense, IMO their overall coaching staff is really not anything special.

I think I recall you guys had then as the #3 or #4 staff, but I would have a hard time putting them in upper half of the SBC.
