For a university that considers itself "a football school" it has now been 25 years since we had an outright conference championship. Twenty-five. That's longer than some of you have been programs.
We've had the same coach for 12-years whose sole highlight is delivering one 10-win season and one bowl win (that is now almost a decade old).
Here is a summary of our last six seasons...
1. 2-10
2. Snubbed with 8 wins
3. AFB where we were treated like second rate citizens as the town and comittee fawned all over Navy
4. Snubbed again
5. OCONUS Bowl
6. OCONUS Bowl
Our fan base has been punched in the gut year after year.
You add all these up with the expectation that this year we would finally, finally have a team capable of winning a conference title and to have it blow up in front of you the first month of the season is enough to make the most diehard walk. Just ask. There are a lot of MT die hards who come to this board. They all feel the same way.

Your QB got injured going after a signature win; that's the risk/reward of major CFB. You got the W but paid a price....time to pick up the pieces and move on.

Nope, he got injured on a late hit by a POS that had every intent of hurting him.

You mean like the shot Tannehill got from that Cardinal d-lineman last year that blew out his knee? Sorry to hear about that, some people are just sore losers.

I posted pictures of it here a while back, but Brent ran a QB draw, was tackled around the legs, and landed on his left side. His momentum made him roll to his back and then to his right side. At that point a Syracue's defensive linemen literally did a superman dive on top of him driving his 300 lbs into his left shoulder. The impact cracked his sternum and dislocated his collarbone at the sternum. It's a rare injury usually only seen in trauma patients in car crashes.

From the local (homer) paper. You know things are in a death spiral when the DNJ dumps. Excerpts...
2017 has been a spectacular disappointment ** For all the hype MTSU had entering the year, for all the reasons to be optimistic about its season, 2017 has been an incredible letdown by every measure. In the C-USA preseason poll, MTSU was picked to finish second in the East, with four of 28 media members picking MTSU to finish first. At no point during the first two-thirds of the season have the Blue Raiders played up to those expectations. It’s the first time MTSU has started 1-3 in conference play since 2011, when it was still in the Sun Belt Conference and went 2-10 overall.
** Playing its first home game on ESPN since 2010, MTSU suffered its worst home loss since a 49-21 defeat to Georgia Tech on Sept. 10, 2011. Though it played in front of a nationally televised audience, not many in Murfreesboro were in attendance to witness the debacle.
** Richie James left Friday’s game with an injury. The junior wide receiver was in his second game back after a three-game absence due to a high ankle sprain.
** MTSU’s offensive line had an abysmal showing in its first game of the year, and, aside from one solid performance on Oct. 7 against FIU, has been varying degrees of bad ever since.
John Urzua is frustrating to watch **There are moments of brilliance, when Urzua throws downfield and drops a pass right into the awaiting arms of his receiver. It happened a couple of times Friday, such as when the sophomore quarterback led Ty Lee perfectly down the right sideline for a 33-yard gain. Then there are moments of bafflement, when Urzua makes a terrible decision that leads to a turnover or a near-turnover.
