So wins are just supposed to materialize from the drainage ditch or something?

Could also be that FBS is catching up after a good run the first two years.

What does this even mean?

When you inherit the kind of roster CTS did last year and turn it into one of the most inefficient offenses ever, you've got coaching incompetence.

True, but you indicated that even someone mediocre would waltz in and win, because it's the 'boro.

That is now what he said at all... maybe some context would do you some good. The wins are here this year... they were there last year... but none of it could be taken due coaching. The stories of what has transpired since Tyson arrived are near limitless.

Tyson inherited one of the best senior groups to play at Southern and he couldn't even get Bowl eligible. Notice how much attention that group from the NFL?

Now we are seeing what he can't do with young talent.. which is win.

if GS wins 4-5 games with gradually improving stats, would that be enough progress for Summers to appease the fanbase?

Statistically.. this is the worst coach we've ever had at Southern. I'm too pooped to dig it out.. but its bad.

Stats and a mediocre record don't keep you as a head coach in Statesboro. Hell.. we fired a guy that was above .700.

That is literally what he said.

I'm struggling to see how someone else is going to come in and right the ship. Johnson, Monken, and Fritz are not walking through that door.

Also, I'm not sure the wins are there this year. The team two years ago was way more talented.

No, it is not what I said.

What do you call it when a guy comes to GS, becomes the first ever move-up to run the table in conference ever, ties App State as the fastest team to a bowl win, and goes to Tulane and gets pretty typical results?

I did not imply it was the town, I was implying it's the program. Not sure why you seem to be implying there's only 3 guys who can win at GS. There's no fewer than 5 FCS coaches within one state of us that can do significantly better than Summers.

Better question would be "who should coach GS next week"! Please keep him around until after the App game.

I call that an amazing run that makes the fall back down to the rest of the pack (and the fact that you're not in the SoCon anymore) a little harder for your fan base to process.

So, you're basically chalking it up to luck? I guess we just didn't realize how the planets were aligned in our favor what with all of our SoCon players and 10+ scholarship differential with the other teams in the Belt.

I guess our Sun Belt peer school App State's 23-4 (?) conference record is also a huge fluke. Both teams just got really lucky.

This is kind of case in point. Maybe the transition to FBS isn't exactly seamless and GS isn't actually predestined to win.

Your crappy coach isn't doing the program any favors. Firing him also isn't going to automatically turn things around for you.

I meant, that is what a hypothetical coaching candidate could be thinking lol

Obviously I'm being facetious, but Georgia Southern is a tough place to coach for sure. lots of expectations and stress. I feel bad for Summers.
Hard for me to feel sorry for a guy making $500k.

Definetly not seamless but it's not like we are in the SEC. I know many on here don't want to hear that. We have enough talent to compete in the Belt with an average coach. Right now we are not even close to competing. I DID NOT SAY WIN THE CONFERENCE, before you put words in my mouth.

We know a new coach is not going to turn it around immediately. To much damage had been done since Summers came on board. However, it's time to stop the bleeding. IMHO, there will not be a change this year and we will continue to spiral downward. We will throw in a win or two here and there to give the AD ammo for his poor decision to keep Summers.
