MAJOR APPLEWHITE TO UCONN!

It depends, if we keep applewhite it WILL be a decade at least before we are competitive again. If we get rid of him we may be able to turn it around by 2022., and thats not an exaggeration.

A decade?

Look man, I know you guys just lost, but hell no.

Memphis was arguably the worst Div 1 football program when Fuente got here. We had FCS level scholarship players and so on. In just a couple of seasons we were 10x better and competing for Conference Championships, beat top 25 teams and so on.

Houston is in a much better spot, you still have a lot of talent, and you can turn it around much easier.

I know 7-9 win seasons isn't great for you, but that is your low point in the AAC.

The right hire and you're good fairly quickly.

I dont think you understand just how badly applewhite has destroyed the image of UH football. Unlike Memphis we sit in the most competitive recruiting ground in the country and it will take years to convince players that we are worth going to. It took us 10 years to recover and win a conference championship in 2006, because of how bad we handled the football program.

I can easily see the same thing happening again all over. No one is going to want to come to UH football games for a long time even if we fire applewhite. Now its going to take even longer to fix recruiting. Every major school recruits Houston, how are we supposed convince players to come here after we have shown we cant even hire a good coach back to back?

Sent from my Necronomicon using DemonTalk

We have a bad coach. If get a better one---we'll be fine. Hire the guy with the best resume.

There are 129 FBS OC's, 129 FBS DC's, and 129 FBS head coaches.
There are about hundred or more FCS head coaches---and a ton of pro assistant coaches. Thats about 500-600 potential options in the country.

As a rule of thumb, a well run thorough national search should almost never indicate the best possible coach for your team just happens to be on your own staff. Yet, some how---two of our last 3 searches have ended with hires of guys right down the hall on our own staff. I suspect there is something wrong with the way we are running our coaching searches. Fix that--and our next hire will be just fine.

4 more seasons at 12 games (plus the rest of this year) per year. No CCG’s, no bowls.....

54.
Private Whitehead won’t get whacked until November 20021.

Bumped.
I predicted this mid last season.
Private Whitehead should be canned now.
Does Houston have the $ to get eem out of there?

A few big strong defensive lineman is needed.
You can't have guys weighing 245 lbs playing defensive line I should know cuz I played it in college

MAJOR APPLEWHITE TO UCONN!

Yes please! And bring some recruits with him! If he can win 8 games a year here, he'll have a job for life. And a statue.

He'll make UConn Great Again...or for the first time.

but in all seriousness he most likely will get canned next year if his new hires don't work out. im sure there will be a market out there for him considering 8-4 isn't a bad record for most FBS teams.

would UConn consider the option?

UConn should have no voice in football matters.

Like Memphis in basketball matters?

For giggles and grins I took a look at Alabama's roster. They have 12 DL listed. Only 2 of those guys (very light guys at 229 and 231) weigh less than 286. Houston only has 5 of 13 listed above 270. If injuries deplete those 5 in any way, than it spells trouble stopping the run. So maybe you're right, Houston needs a little more beef on the DL.

Houston got themselves in this mess by insisting upon assanine contract stipulations for leaving that meant no one with options or ambition would take the job. The job after Herman left should have been as attractive as any position in the country outside of the elite P5 jobs. Houston can attract another big time up and comer, but only if they are willing to accept it an elite job wants them in a couple of years they are most likely gone.

Applewhite has to go.... he simply did not have the Cougars ready to play. I understand Houston's top two players were not playing...but this was a team that quit. That's on Applewhite.

What people dont seem to realize is that no decent coordinators want to come to houston. Apparently applewhite is not easy to get along with and combined with the fact every coach in the country expects applewhite to be fired at the end of next year, no one is willing to risk giving up their current jobs.

So apparently we are going to have to hire some bottom of the barrel coaches in order to rebuild our staff. Its going to be a long time before we are relevant in football again...

Houston shouldn't wait to see if his new hires work out. Fire Applewhite now. Would like to see Charlie Strong gone as well. Houston and USF are too good of programs to settle for mediocrity.

I actually am starting to believe we may be dumb enough to bring back applewhite next year. If they do you can say hello to only 2,000 season tickets sold and at best a 4 win season.

It should be at least three or four years before having to find another head coach, not less than two like Tom Herman made us do. We shouldn't be changing coaches every couple years, regardless of the reason.
