I cant help but agree with you. If the HOD wants cash, they will fanangle things like last year to get the local team again.

RE: CUSA Bowl Situation
Face it our bowl situation sucks.... Why do we not a have a decent bowl game designated at the beginning of the season as motivation for the conference champion to go to? At one time it was the Liberty Bowl, it could have been the Heart of Dallas Bowl but it never worked out that way. Now you just hope that the conference bowl affiliation roulette wheel doesn't land on your team and you get sent to the Bahamas Bowl.

Bahamas Bowl, 110 degrees in the shade: 50 fans in attendance (including the 25 kids asking for quarters, nay, dollars; and $15 rum daiquiris filled with rot gut whiskey------------> C-USA's little piece of Paradise.04-cheers

Not to mention having to spend 2 hours going through customs so you can bring in all of the straw hats you bought as presents for family and friends...

I think if we have 10 bowl eligible teams we almost have to get a P5 team, even if just a 5-7 or 5-6 one.

If they don't go to the peach bowl, then they will be in Birmingham against SEC.

Birmingham is an AAC bowl...

He was talking about UCF.

I would not be shocked to see Birmingham or Montgomery to cut a deal with CUSA to get UAB

That said I'd rather go to the Big Easy but we will take anything

at least we don't have the Haw-are-ya bowl to deal with 03-wink

it's truly become a joke at this point....

just create a shiteload of everybody gets a ribbon bowl by squeezing out the smaller schools whilst subsidizing the SuC BiG, Pac, Notre Dame and BYwho

the NCAA has been reduced to irrelevance.....and we have a female commissioner now...

such is the suck how today's college foosball business platform is designed.....

at least we had one helluva run while it lasted.....

I'll take the Bahamas Bowl any day of the week, instead of a trip to a town I've been to scores of times. Anyways, my picks are 1.) Bahamas; 2.) Gasparilla; 3.) The Rat's Mouth. But then again, any bowl would put me right about here....03-cloud9

As a fan of a school that has not had football for two years and survived nine losing seasons before that I'll be estatic to go anywhere.

If UAB attains a winning record and goes to a bowl game, The Blazers should be is strong consideration for some kind of ESPY award.

Our record against Marshall is .727. You may get a chance to help us improve that stat but I doubt if it will be this year. Good luck with CCG! It was always fun playing Marshall.

RE: CUSA Bowl Situation
Why hasn't CUSA and the City of San Antonio put a bowl game together like the New Orleans Bowl did with the Sunbelt? San Antonio is a world class city with a great Riverwalk. CUSA would have a "built in" fan base locally (because of UTSA) and a lot of teams would find it very attractive to play a bowl game in a "weather proof" facility in late December. CUSA could probably draw a P5 opponent to play the CUSA champ.

Instead of chasing all the stupid bowl games that nobody's ever heard of (Gasparilla? WTF?), we should be marshaling our assets to BUILD a championship bowl game in one of the country's best indoor facilities. The "San Antonio Bowl".

THIS is the kind of crap that our conference commissioner Judy should be working on.

RE: CUSA Bowl Situation
Building our own bowl is something I think we would have at least had our previous commissioner talk about, but all is quite these days.

Until this conference learns to demand someone who has some vision and ambition, we will remain a P5 fodder conference and keep wallowing in our mediocrity. I can't say if Judy is the person for this job or not, but unlike BB, I hardly ever hear a peep out of the C-USA comms office.03-banghead

We did this already. It was the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Then E$PN came a knocking and we hiked up our knickers faster than a crack ho. Next thing you know we do not even play in the bowl we helped found!

It can be done. Boca Raton bowl is living proof. Course it helped that ESPN got behind it as well.

We already have the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. I doubt they'd let us bring a second bowl into town.

The Cotton Bowl stadium is not a dome stadium with a locally partisan CUSA crowd.

Again, think about New Orleans. They do it successfully.
