What happened to CUSA on tv?
Do we not have any national games anymore involving cusa teams going head to head? I know the sunbelt has wed/thurs games on ESPNU and stuff. Not how it use to be where we would have games on FOX and all that.

First, that is not Southern Miss schedule from 2015. If so appears we played ourselves later in the year.

More important comparison:
2011: $1.2MM per team (this number could be off slightly, can’t recall specific)
2017: $200k per Team

You're correct that's Tech's schedule. I have a eye infection and one eye is covered so it's throwing me off.

As for money....how in the hell are you going to blame Judy for the make up of this conference? That contract was based off other schools. Schools that left S. Miss behind. But that wasn't the question asked....

As for the TV schedules if a person wanted to watch their team in 2016 or 2017 you can. As for the money don't act like there are very many fans on this board that actually give a damn about what the TV contract pays. They don't...if they did every one of you would be season ticket holders...

actually supporting your schools. Instead of couch fans that only care if they get to watch a game from their living room....for free.

RE: What happened to CUSA on tv?
Trust me, I get what you’re saying, WKUYG. As mentioned in another thread, what has Judy done? You’re correct, she inherited a struggling pile of dung. TV probelm, revenue problem, over zealous expansion within the conference etc etc etc. All of this can’t be disputed. Again, what has she done to correct? Rather she likes it or not, her job is to correct these issues or at least improve. Flip side, university presidents and AD’s shoulder as much if not more of the blame but that’s another subject

RE: What happened to CUSA on tv?
I'm not saying she's done a good job and I'm not saying this because she's female but the persona she projects is just negative. The only thing I'm arguing is she didn't have much to work with and a short time to do it.

You can go back and read (search) I've always said no to streaming vs TV. But that's because I rather view something by clicking a remote and have it right there. But if the only thing a fan cared about was watching their school play...

streaming is the way to go and Stadium looks (to me) like a better way to doing that than espn3.

The money is not coming back at least not anytime soon and maybe never.

I have to get ready to leave...Western has a 3:30 game

RE: What happened to CUSA on tv?
I used to follow this blog when it existed. He named it pretty well a couple of years ago in terms of what he thought would happen to Cusa tv deal.

There were many on this board who gave ECU a hard time for leaving saying the AAC was a lateral move. Well it’s turned out to be far from it. ECU on the other hand is one of the worst teams in college football right now. I am actually surprised how well AAC is doing especially tv coverage.

Good luck as you all find a better tv deal.

RE: What happened to CUSA on tv?
I thought C-USA was going to require each university to install/acquire it's own Video production equipment. this equipment would enable each University to independently market games that were not picked up by a network or streaming service. I am not really talking about creating our own network, but at least have the conference set some min. standards and expectations. This may already all be in play, I don't know, but it seems like it is easier that ever to get set up for this kind of thing. I am sure it is expensive, but personnel to operate it should not be something you are short on at the universities.

I have not heard good things about the universities that did try to stream their games VIA C-USA, the production was very poor. Was this something that was caused by the universities poor production and/or streaming service?01-wingedeagle

Those who are capable and are actually meeting the requirements are on ESPN3.

RE: What happened to CUSA on tv?
What hurt us the most, other than the obvious conference rep hit due to reconfiguration (no offense guys, not flaming here), was insisting we keep all or most games on Saturday. As far as TV is concerned that leaves little options. Comparing what we do and how it affects us as a conference to what the MAC or Sunbelt does and how it affects them is like comparing apples to oranges. They are willing to do the things we thumbed our noses up at. So we pay the price on media or lack there of.

In the day and time of CUSA 2.0, we had the luxury of still having sorta a house brand, CBS Sports was not owned by CBS yet and the start up station was willing to pay decent for air time, then Fox Sports tries to gain a spot, again willing to pay up. Our conference changed at the worst time, with TV deals running out. Bottom line is, we weren't willing to accept that we had fallen in prestige and didn't command what we once did, and did not show enough interest to do what the MAC and Belt is doing. So here we sit...........belt level tv money, terrible coverage that will push us down further in the long run. It really sucks for the holdovers that were part of decent times within the conference. Right now its all about who will survive this mess in the landscape and who won't, Idaho was the first to blink, fairly certain they will not be the last. Lastly, when every tom dick and hairy can move up and water down FBS football even more than it is, the gap in revenue will just continue to get worse, along with coverage.

We do have an odd game on Friday, here and there, including the one between our teams in a couple of weeks...

You missed the point, the belt and MAC is doing mid week games, the MAC has been doing it for a while now, that was one reason they received a decent TV deal to fill those slots. We do Friday games here and there, maybe a Thursday game (those seem to be filled with P5s now), but by our own AD's mouth, we won't play midweek games...............which goes back to my previous statement

RE: What happened to CUSA on tv?
Friday night pretty much sums up our TV deal and dearth of leadership all at the same time. There are only two C-USA-specific games on an ESPN network. MT/Marshall on Friday and UTSA/La Tech in November. There are only three on CBS Sports Network.

Yet, the league managed to have the top four teams from the East (as projected in the pre-season) compete against each other at the same time. One on ESPN (the aforementioned MT/Marshall game) and the other on CBSSN (ODU/wkcc).

Think about that. We only have five nationally televised league games between these two networks and the league managed to have two of the five go against each other and the four teams were picked one, two, three, and four in the east.

Is there a more perfect example of the incompetence of this league's leadership than this?
