The absolute obsession you guys have with La Tech is amazing. I can only imagine what this board will look like if a Sun Belt team ever manages to win a football game (or even keep it close) against us.

From my visits there since I moved, I see the downtown area of Ruston has gotten a lot nicer and has a cool small town vibe to it. Lincoln Parish Park just outside the northern city limits is a nice park with 10 miles of mountain biking trails, camping, and a lake. If you just "drive through" Ruston, you're likely on I-20 and not seeing much of the town. I wouldn't ever want to move back because it's too small of a town for my liking, but I love visiting for a weekend. Also Ruston has good peaches, watermelons and pecans...so there's that.
Thanks for the nice words about my home town. I still love to visit Ruston as well. Anybody that actually knows anything about it knows that Ruston is pretty typical of what small college towns are like. Besides, would any of the ass whippings you guys have taken from Tech have been any easier to take had Ruston's population been twice its size?

To be fair BR. This thread doesn't materialize if a few Tech fans didn't decide to troll hard last night. It's not like we all suddenly woke up and decided "Hey, lets all annoy Tech today!"

Yeah, honestly, I started the thread as a joke about how a few folks from the neckster faithful were over here all night regarding the Troy/USA game. All in fun. If you want we can get a bunch of Belt fans to come over and comment all through your next game thread to keep it even, OK?

Y'know, I've never been a big fan of the whole "your school's town sucks" thing. It can be fun to kid about, but occasionally you realize that there are fans who are legitimately trying to disparage another school because its location is boring/poor/small/crime-ridden/whatever, and it suddenly seems like a lame argument. I grew up in a fairly small south Georgia town (Americus), and I've always been surprised by how quick people are to think/say, "Oh, nothing to do there..." Really? I lived there for 18 years and don't recall being bored once. What do people need for entertainment...?
EDIT: Oh, and with all that said, I do love that Atlanta is such a happenin' town. But I'd be just fine if you took most of it away.

Tech will never join the Belch. Ever. We've separated ourselves from you heathens.
We're bigger, better, brighter, and make prettier kids. So there's that too.

That's almost a direct quote from an SBC athletic director I know. I guess we must know some of the same people.

That's Tech's loss, then. Joining the Belch, any Belch is fun.

Yeah, I was only joking as well. As for the Troy/USA game, I knew that both have good teams this season, and I expected a very hard fought game, but I honestly thought Troy would come out on top.
It's been a strange college football season so far. Lots of upsets. Since Troy beat LSU, the Tigers have beaten both Florida and Auburn. You never know what to expect from one week to the next.

I am as big a fan of La Tech as they come. I donate thousands of dollars every year to Tech athletics. Do you? I'll post what I want, where I want, and when I want. If it upsets some pinhead POS like you, so be it.

...also, lest we fall for the oldest Internet trick in the book, everybody who claims to be a fan of ...whatever school...isn't always.

The only people obsessed with EL Lay tech are El Lay tech fans. The thread was a troll job from the beginning and you and your laturd friends slurped it up.
The fact is the @ruston has a barely above average football team and a very pedestrian athletic program. Your school is in a small town in the middle of nowhere, without enough hotel rooms for visiting fans and the dining options top out with Applebys. There are many more schools that would be ahead of tech in moving to a better conference. The only reason the Belt would take tech is because of geography, barely.

Well, since no Tech fan that I've ever known has ever mentioned wanting to join the Sun Belt, everybody ought to be happy. I like competing in CUSA, with the occasional OOC matchup with SBC teams. I could go without ever playing ULL again. I like better competition than you guys are ever able to field against us.
