RE: 2017 football coaching changes
With this being the first year of the "early signing period" I imagine most if not all schools that are in the process of hiring a head coach are going to move quickly. The early signing date in the past was the traditional JuCo signing day but now allows/includes high school seniors as well. I feel like it "could/should" help out many of the G5 programs if they can convince a top recruit to sign them to avoid a P5 moving in at the last moment leading up to the traditional signing day in February. Granted it could still happen now but since there is a later signing day there's no rush to sign this month.

The early signing period goes into effect this year, making Class of 2018 recruits the first to have the choice of using it.

The signing period will last 72 hours, beginning Dec. 20 and running through Dec. 22
