With the beefed up pre-conference schedule we could know much sooner this year who among those newcomers is really able to contribute at this level in year one. Historically, Mick's bench gets pretty short when conference play begins. Freshmen contributing has become a big part of today's game and Cumberland certainly upheld his end of the bargain last year.

I'm going to guess you would only see a Broome/JJ lineup in the case of foul trouble since neither one has the size to matchup with bigger guards. Cronin likes length on defense.
Given basketball has moved to more skilled perimeter play I guarantee you'll never see Gary/Kyle/Brooks together. Not one of them is a good perimeter defender and while Gary and Kyle are good ball handlers for bigs neither is good enough to play the 3 on offense.

Most likely those lineups would only be used in special situations, where Mick may be trying to take advantage if some weakness for a short amount of time. But more than anything it was a nod at some of BearChatter's old ridiculous threads detailing 20 different substitution platoons.

Mick played a ton of guys last year with some really questionable lineups IMO. Wouldn't surprise me if we saw any of those lineups plus several more on the floor at any time. Will Moore get redshirted???

I would say no chance Moore does. I would guess Nsosome will.

I could see it for both kids potentially. You are probably right about Nsosome having a greater chance- there's a log jam for essentially 2 spots in the front court. But I would think that Moore is also the last guard off the bench with Evans, Cumberland and Williams garnering most of the wing minutes in that order. I could even see Broome sliding over to 2 guard in some scenarios...

This would mean that UC averages 90 points per game. That's not going to happen, especially after the Conference grind begins.

RE: Pre-season Hoops BearChatter Memorial Thread
Things I want to see:
Gary Clark more aggressive every night, every play
Jacob Evans more assertive every night, every play
Looking forward to seeing the progress on N. Brooks and Tre Scott. How good the team really is and how far we go in March will be partially dependent on what kind of jumps these two have made. Can't afford either guy to have not developed or worse, taken steps backward.
Really looking fwd to Broom and what he can/will do. I know the 'best player in practice' thing always turns out to be a joke but this kid at least played D1 hoops and did very well, albeit for a high school level program in a high school level conference. This will be a step up or three for him.
Cumberland: how much of a jump do we get from year one to year two? He was pretty impressive as a frosh.
Washington has GOT GOT GOT to be tougher on defense. This ole crap he pulled last year isn't going to work. He is great with the ball in his hands within eight feet of the rim and so just on that basis alone, he needs to be on the floor but he was a wuss on defense. He has GOT to play Bearcat defense this year. Gary can't do it alone inside.
I would consider ANYTHING we get from Moore, Diarra, and Nsoseme to be icing on the cake.
Sky is the limit for this group. Time to end this early exit jinx//stigma that has plagued this program...going waaay back to Huggins days. I'm tire of second round flameouts. WE don't get the respect we could have and should have because we have been a paper tiger in the ncaa more times than I can count. THIS team can make a statement and perhaps be the start of ending that reputation.

I think Brooks and Scott will provide solid backup for the front court, when it comes to the guards, I hope Keith Williams will be as good in backup minutes as he looked on film. If so, the backcourt will be top notch.

RE: Pre-season Hoops BearChatter Memorial Thread
This team is freaking stacked, and I'm hyped. The two interesting questions for me:
- How good is Broome and how will he fit in? This feels like a replay of all those years in the early-to-mid 90s when we just needed a PG to come in and complete a team full of studs.
- Will anyone step up and be THE guy on offense, or will it be more balanced with several guys stepping up at different times? Every time I think about it, I think that Cumberland will be the guy this year, no wait, Evans is primed to really step it up, ahhhhh but Washington should be unstoppable inside and out as a 5th year senior, oh, Gary Clark, how am I forgetting about him? I wonder how it will all shake out.
