Wow, was it really that long ago they did this??? As much as I loved him with his band this was some of my favorite music he was involved in. I'm not sure I ever noticed the rocking chair symbolizing Roy Orbison before. Outstanding.

I was one of the few people there that was a bigger fan of Steve Winwood than of Tom Petty, but man, ol Tom put on an incredible show.
Rest in Peace.
I really regret not seeing him live.
I've seen him about 10 times, and he always delivered. My first Petty show was at Red Rocks in Colorado in 1986. He was travelling with Bob Dylan, and I went to see Dylan. I left a Petty fan, that was disappointed with Dylan.
Three.
Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynn and Bob Dylan are still alive.
Ringo was never in the group. He was in a few videos but never officially in the group. He is alive, and I really need to see him next month when he plays in Sugar Land out here with his All-Star group (Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie of Santana and Journey, Steve Lukather of Toto, Richard Page of Mr. Mister, Warren Ham of Kansas and drummer Gregg Bissonette.

Correct; although Wilburys drummer Jim Keltner is alive, he was dubbed a Sidebury rather than a Wilbury.
Ringo did play on Harrison's Cloud Nine, and it was a recording of a b-side for one of the tracks on that album that spawned the Wilburys.

Opiods got another rock and roll legend it appears (Prince too I think if I remember correctly).
The Los Angeles County coroner confirmed Friday that Petty's cause of death was a "multisystem organ failure" due to mixed drug intoxication, including fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetylfentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl.
His family said Petty suffered from "many serious ailments" including emphysema, knee problems and a fractured hip.
Basically he was in a lot of pain and took all the pain medication to get through his final tour.

Opioids and respiratory problems are a deadly combination add in a past heroin addiction and it is a predictable outcome.

Another sad victim of opioid addiction. It is a national epidemic.
I really believe that much of it is simply that Americans are soft. We now feel that regardless of our condition that "pain" is unnecessary and we over medicate ourselves constantly. Folks?..Pain is sometimes your bodies way of sending you a message that you need to heed. When you mask minor pain you put yourself on a direct track to addiction if something serious happens. Sometimes you just have to gut it out and deal with some pain. Not every ache and pain requires drug therapy.
The early rumors of a drug overdose were correct. This should shine a bright light on the opioid crisis in the US and poor pain management techniques used by doctors, pushing opioids as first best option.

Doesn't that sound a bit excessive?
Tom Petty had been a heroin addict, and slipped back into serious opioid addiction. And it killed him.
Lots of people die at 66. He lived a rock'n roll lifestyle, was probably lucky to have lived as long as he did, and that's that.
I don't really feel any need to moralize his life. He lived how he lived.
Now, from a health perspective, stay away from the opioids, kids. You don't need that monkey.
And don't smoke.
