Massey composites post week 5/pre week 6
54 Toledo
61 WMU
70 NIU
72 Ohio
92 Buffalo
93 Miami
99 EMU
109 Akron
111 Ball State
113 CMU
114 KENT
126 BGSU

.... So the league does not dominate the bottom 15 which is nice. EMU, Miami and UB will trend up as they win games, Ohio will trend down from SOS.

My rankings would be
Tier 1:
Toledo
WMU
NIU

Tier 1.5:
Ohio
Miami
EMU
UB

Tier 3:
CMU
BSU
KENT
AKRON

Tier race to 1 win:
BGSU

It's gonna be a long year for BG fans. It's not often I see Akron winning by double digits.

This year reminds me of a lot of MAC basketball seasons - no one is great, but we don't have that many cellar dwellers either. I think Akron will beat Kent and end up ahead though.

Top 4 teams in the west are very good. Would be suprising ,only 1 game in, to see cmu or balls finish anything other than 5/6.

Took OT to beat EMU in their own tier... They didnt beat Kansas as bad as CMU did and looked dreadful against an okay Purdue team... They have to show me something else. Id be pretty sad to say Purdue blew out a top tier MAC team... Even if Purdue is up.

Are really downgrading a team because it took OT to beat a good team (EMU) on the road? And that Kansas game was a 25 point game entering the 4th quarter. Kansas scored on the last play of the game to make the game look somewhat respectable. The result was never in doubt.

Since you are picking game results apart with a fine-toothed comb might as well throw Toledo down into the second tier since it took a field goal as time expired to beat a 1-4 Tulsa team at home. Their two wins against FBS competition have come against teams that have a combined 1-9 record against FBS competition by an average margin of 8 points.

I'm not saying I disagree with Ohio being ranked below Toledo. It's just that I think your rankings seem to be more based on preseason expectations more than anything.

I picked OU to go 10-2... Just think we will beat EMU more handily this weekend than OU, and OU should have done more. Final result was closer at home vs. Kansas than CMU on the road... Still happened. We only have a few games to look at so transitive and things is about the only tool to use. Use the Masseys as your tool... They are 72nd and EMU is 99th. I absolutely think that will change and thats why I gave my opinion ranking after the masseys.

We have an offense that is as reliable as any unit in the league.

It'd put it as:

Toledo
NIU
WMU
Ohio
EMU
Miami

Buffalo
Akron
CMU

BSU*
Kent State
Bowling Green

*BSU's loss of QB & RB made them way worse.

I'd like to add that Ohio really only got blown out in the 2nd quarter against Purdue. The Boilermakers outscored OU 24-0 in the 2nd quarter alone.

I get that it's a 60 minute game, but I don't think that the final score accurately represents their overall play.

I have Ohio 2nd. Outside of the (much-improved) Purdue game, they've been solid and have defended their MAC East title solidly thus far. Also, this doesn't go into my rankings, but I'm looking at their schedule looking for their next tough game, and UT is about it.

Not sold on Ohio. Lost by 3 touchdowns to Purdue and 0-6 UMass scored 50 points (550 total yards, 403 passing yards) on them, by far their most points of the season.

Ohio benefits from what could be called one of the easiest SOS in the nation.

Not feeling Ohio either. You give up a half dollar to UMass , that could spell some later issues

I wish I felt that way. I see CMU and Miami before them and think both will be very tough games that could go either way. Not looking forward to ending the season IN Buffalo either. that place has generally been a house of horrors for Ohio

If Umass can put up 50 on the Bobcat defense, I can't wait to see what Toledo will do. Did OU lose a lot to graduation? They were very tough last season when we played them.

Toledo only put up 6 points in the first half and lost 31-26. Totally an unfocused, apathetic effort early. This one was on staff for not having team prepared to start the game. Fan base also took this one for granted, forgot to attend.

For sure about CMU. They're always capable of taking down a top team (NIU these past few years.) I'm not sold on Miami though
