Remaining Undefeated and Winless Teams Before Week 4
Teams with 1st Loss Week 3:
Illinois
Louisville
Air Force
Army
Louisiana State
Kansas State
Southern Methodist
Tennessee
UCLA
Connecticut
(Coastal Carolina)
Central Michigan
Old Dominion
South Carolina
Mississippi

Teams with 1st Win week 3:
Buffalo
Arkansas State
North Carolina
Rutgers
Western Michigan
Florida
Louisiana-Monroe
Florida Atlantic

Percent of Undefeated Teams with 1st Loss
Week 0/1: 36.15% (47/130)
Week 2: 37.35% (31/83)
Week 3: 28.85% (15/52)

Maximum possible Undefeated Teams at End of the Regular Season:
9: We lost two more this week. The Sun Belt has no remaining teams who can finish unbeaten and we also lost the chance for independent Army.

Week 3 Thoughts:
-Idaho lost their 2nd game of the season meaning it is no longer possible for them to be on any lists for this thread.

-We lost both our last undefeated independent and Sun Belt team this week.

-I added the winless column this week and will probably add 1-loss teams next week. Looking at the winless list, we see 2 teams from power 5 conferences. Oddly Florida State is one of them (have played only the one game vs. Alabama). The other is Baylor who has started out this year horribly, but kept things a bit closer vs. Duke at least. None-the-less, there non-conference schedule is now over and it is very possible they are not favored in any Big 12 games (although odds are always that they win one at least).

-The Group of Five race for a New Years 6 Bowl looks very interesting. San Diego State won which was key for the Mountain West, giving them one solid victory, and keeping one program in the spotlight (even if they lose in conference, you need attention on the conference mates who beats them). In the American, we saw Memphis beat UCLA. We will see who had the better victory next week as UCLA and Stanford play each other. 1-loss Northern Illinois helped their cause with a win in Lincoln vs. Nebraska, but it will be tough for a one loss MAC school to get in. That said, the win might help the undefeated MAC schools indirectly and if Boston College (a close loss) and Nebraska end up decent, Northern Illinois might end up in the conservation. The American conference seems to have the edge right now with several undefeated teams and already has South Florida ranked. Individually, I would probably say San Diego State has the best odds, but the American greater odds than the Mountain West.

-Very interesting year between conferences at the power 5 level too. No conference has had a disaster and every conference can claim to have strong national title contenders. We’ll look more at this as most non-conference play ends after next week.

Week 4 Thoughts:
-We have 9 games between undefeated teams: Texas Tech @ Houston, Central Florida @ Maryland, Alabama @ Vanderbilt, USC @ Cal, TCU @ Oklahoma State, Toledo @ Miami (FL), Mississippi State @ Georgia, Penn State @ Iowa, Washington @ Colorado.

-TCU vs. Oklahoma State feels like the most telling of those to me as the 2 teams seem to be competing the most with Oklahoma for the top spot in the Big 12 (I personally think Oklahoma State is very good).

-We have 1 game between winless teams with Georgia State @ Charlotte.

Remaining Undefeated Teams: ACC: 5, American: 5, Big 12: 4, Big Ten: 7, Conference USA: 1, MAC: 2, Mountain West: 1, PAC-12: 7, SEC: 5, Sun Belt: 0, independents: 0, total: 37

Oopz. Will look through my list again when back on computer. Wonder if I wrote the wrong team or just added them somehow.
