RE: Miami game TV
Looks like we came out of that OK...other than the loss of our LG (hope he recovers...looked nasty)...plenty of squandered chances in this one. I don't think I've ever seen a UT team drop so many passes. Penalties are killing us...72 had at least 4 and they all hurt us...could be why he lost his starting spot at Center from last year. We played a number of young guys on the DL in the 1st half...including Chambers. Our defensive scheme just seems to leave the sidelines wide open to get gashed on runs. Still not impressed with our DC...not sure I would have had him back after last year. Once again, we have the real deal on offense...but not much to cheer about on D.

Take away one 26 yard run by Swanson and our run game was almost non-existent. End of story.

We've been spoiled having very good O lines for decades it seems. This year not so good.

Agree about the D. It is a mess.

At this point USF (and Access Bowl talk) is probably irrelevant (and probably always was---this is not the 2015 team which I thought was a team that was good enough to be an Access Bowl team). Canes required about a half to recover from their long layoff but once they got their groove back it was lights out. At this point I am just hoping we are better than NIU, WMU and Ohio in November and we don't go to sleep against them or EMU and CMU (or Ball State and BG for that matter).

The OL took some injuries today; good thing they have an extra week off to recover.
What I am looking for, actually have been looking for, is the Coach George defense that stood out in Kent. They have had their moments but have yet to live up to what I was hoping for from a Coach George unit.

This may have been the best ranked team, based on their ranking (#14), the Rockets have faced since they played OSU in Columbus.

The tide turned on the no call roughing on out punter... It would have kept the ball in our hands and possibly sustained momentum...

I'm guessing he is done for the season. Looked like a broken ankle or leg. Had it in the inflatable cast to immobilize and the replay looked like it broke. Also concerned about Swanson. He did not go off the field under his own power. Hopefully not a knee issue.

Week off will help.

1+ on the comment that this was a great opportunity that slipped away! Penalties, penalties, penalties...no call...but it was respectable and that loss will not hurt us if we can run the table
1+ on USF not going undefeated
I see the glass half-full on this one...great timing for our off week for sure.
Go Rockets!

I would like to see how often we ran up the middle on first down. The play calling was so predictable.

Also, how about a "gadget" play now and then. In a game like this, it would have been a perfect time to show some kind of trickery. Cody Thompson was a high school QB. Why not have him throw a pass now and then? Heck, Vest was a high school QB. There are a lot of oddball plays that could be used to keep defenses off balance. We make game plans for defenses against us way too easy.

I think focusing on USF for the access bowl spot, or any AAC team for that matter, misses the point that San Diego State has the best shot imo. They have the upset over Stanford and just got past a tough Air Force team. Boise State is beatable. Maybe NIU takes them down. AAC teams will beat each other just like in the MAC.

I agree that SDSU is most likely to get the access bowl, but USF is ranked higher - for now. We aren't out of it unless we lose another game.
