Russell To Pull Out of Athletic Uniforms Provider

This just days after the Shoegate. Would this hurt colleges and universities who buy their uniforms from Russell?

They've been getting to this point for while. Not many colleges use Russell any longer and those that do have been working to move on. Coastal used to be with Russell but when it came time for a new contract they didn't bother bidding.

Russell makes more money selling Chinese crap at Walmart. Do Walmart customers care if a team actually wears Russell.

Who in D1 is even outfitted by them anymore for any sport? They've fallen off the map on that end.

I knew one of their College reps. Their business took a tail spin when perks from their new competitors were prompting the switch overs on providers. In fact you might say that their timing on this is lousy. They were cleaner than the others as everyone is about to find out.

Not to mention it was my experience that their uniforms were a better quality and far more durable than any of the big brand stuff I've used over the years.

The athletic jerseys were made in America! And for years they were made just up the road in Alexander City, Alabama!

They should try making soccer kits, plenty of semi-pro and amateur clubs out there. I thought they made the sharpest Football uniforms personally.

Russell just wasn't steering enough athletes their way.

Sharpest? Have you seen either a MEAC or SWAC game over the last five years?
When high school programs leave you and your designs are a mess, you are better served to leave the business.

Yep. I wondered for years why they didn't revamp their styling department. If they would have improved it even a little bit they would have been a far bigger player in the uniform market. As I stated earlier RA uniforms were more durable and built far better than anything I have experienced from Nike or Under Armour.

smart. It is a waste of advertising dollars. Look for this to be a trend on uniforms and clothing as companies keep cutting costs
