Not sure who thought we needed a new Buster or why.

Although mascots usually don't talk, I think it would be super fun to do a take on pro wrestling, do some pounding entry music, New Bronco (nickname "Killer") runs out to a microphone and does a 30 second badmouthing routine about the opponent, then runs to the student section doing some chest pounding front handspring deal. Would be mind blowingly different and get us another shot at Gameday for sure. Anybody want to take a shot at the narrative for the CMU game?

Watch next Minny game, old Buster in Maroon/Yellow with oars comes thru the tunnel. Heather Fleck on his shoulders.

We sold our football slogan for probably a fraction of the sales of the merch sold with that slogan on it, and changed Buster after his biggest mainstream publicly recognizable moments (Gameday) last year. None of that feels like a stretch.

Another way to look at it is that we sold a slogan that cost us nothing at all yet brought us millions of $$ and publicity, knowing that the slogan could never be valuable to us again.

Can we also get a bring back the dj petition going? Not that I was a fan but that crap they are putting out through the PA now is just horrible. One of the "songs" literally sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard.

And who decided every second of time between plays had to be filled with noise. We enjoy being able to talk with folks sitting near us, but don't want to scream to be heard. Who do ee voice a complaint to? Is it the athletic dept or who? The decibel level had to be beyond any safe level. I'd much rather see a petition to get rid of or limit the music than change Buster.

You have to remember that the place was practically empty. I'm sure that played a factor.

Acoustics sound completely different when there's 10,000 people in the stands vs. 20,000-25,000. The more people, the more the sound dampens.

RE: Bring back the old Buster petition
That is just the new atmosphere at sporting events, times have changed. Impossible to please everyone. If you start having natural sound breaks in these games that are long due to the tv audience, it may not work. Do think now and then, it is okay not to blast the music...and I think a third down stinger like the lions have, the bell toll, or something like that would get the crowd into it. I also believe that playing loud rock music while the other team is at the line of scrimmage should not be allowed, surprised by that.
