Loved reading this part of a column in the Omaha World-News:

Nebraska paid Northern Illinois $820,000 to topple this former football power. That’s on top of the $1.02 million NU coughed up for getting NIU to cancel a previously scheduled 2016 game in Chicago.

http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/ba...65abf.html

(Sarcastically) Does this mean NIU owes Christian Spears a note of thanks?

If we keep playing Big 10 schools, we'll get a lot more wins and have enough money for the stadium expansion.

I used to support stadium expansion but seeing our dwindling attendance perhaps we should settle for stadium upgrades and renewal.

this may not be a bad idea. The Chargers are doing this in LA. smaller stadium, but more premium experience for those who attend. It will be interesting to watch how it pans out for them

i'm thinking we are going to run out of B1G opponents to beat soon.
Iowa = done
Maryland = done
Minnesota = done
Northwestern = done
Nebraska = done
Purdue = done
and while we did beat Wisconsin in 1988, they did come back for more and beat us in 2011

Thats pretty much half of the league.

Don't forget the ILL-ness is only going to schedule us when they believe it'll be a down year for us.
Wolfe probably made Michigan decide not to take a chance with us.
Penn State might still take a chance
Ohio State will still assume victory
We've yet to get a game at Michigan State
Perhaps Indiana could be coerced into a two-for-one
We should be negotiating a home and home with Rutgers

Big XII: While Texas Christian, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Iowa State will want to avoid us, Missouri should be explored and we could cash guarantee checks if offered by Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, or Texas Tech.

We can even have a special section dedicated to the B10 to thank them. Maybe a special room. Have the logo of each team we have played, $ to date we have received, or perhaps each game, and a line through the logo if we beat them

TCU has handled us in bowl games

Missouri is in the SEC but I'd love to play them. West Virginia is the last Big12 that you missed. I'd love to play them too.

Rutgers would be fun. I'd like to get some of the ACC schools that other MAC teams seem to be able to schedule. Syracuse for one or Virginia.

I think we spooked a #1 ranked Ohio State enough to not risk the money.

You're right. I goofed, was thinking West Virginia as the other BigXII, but I'd also like to see us face Missouri or Kentucky.
Because TCU handled us previously, I think they're arrogant enough to consider not worthy of another chance.

Kentucky is another SEC team that other MAC teams have scheduled. I'd love to see them. Tennessee again or Ole Miss would be great too. Most mid to lower tier Power 5 schools won't play us usually. I've always said I'd love to see us play more G5 teams home and home. It didn't work out so well for us last year though. I'd love to travel to some of the Texas schools, Florida, or even New Mexico. A good balance between one or two P5 and a couple G5 would be good. I know some won't agree but schedules like next year are too tough in my opinion. I know BYU isn't really P5 but it's damn close.

I think there are a few schools that would play @ NIU, 1/1, 2/1 if NIU weren't in DeKalb. It kills us.

I wonder how many would agree if they got a SF game out of it. Probably pretty hard to promise year(s) in advance.
