By the early part of the 3rd quarter even most of the soft drinks were warm and some of the concessions ran out of food

This complaint is overblown. They had water, just not bottled water. Every stand I saw was providing free ice water to everyone who order bottled water. I actually thought it quite gracious given those in the stands have nothing to do with ordering.

In the third quarter, people were going from concession stand to concession stand asking for ice and water, and were being told there was none. I witnessed it. Now, if they had a cup, they could have gone in any bathroom for water. But running out of water on a day like yesterday, was utterly inexcusable, and utterly what the LB has done more than once in the past few years. All the time I heard ambulance siren after ambulance siren tending to overheated people. I saw two people almost die a few years ago at the LB, when there was no water, and one may have died.

I probably refilled my water bottle 5 times at the water fountain. Even found one of those old style, rectangular water fountains on the upper level that had nice, cool water. Was kind of happy to save the 3 or 4 bucks every time I refilled my empty water bottle.

Like someone else said, just buy a coke bottle, empty it and put water in it. Or drink water from the fountain. Bad they ran out of bottled water, but not like there were not ways to get hydrated. Wasn't that long ago that there wasn't such a thing as bottled water - remember the argument was why would people pay for something they could get for free? Don't be a victim, find a solution.

In the third quarter, there were no Cokes or sodas to buy at many of the stands.

dude..some of us don't drink out of public water fountains. Sorry. We just don't.

Your choice.

Uhm...when I was in high school in Memphis, my own pediatrician said don't drink out of public water fountains.

That is where they found the mononucleosis that I had contracted. He later became the Director of Communicable Diseases in Memphis for years.

I wouldn't let my grandchildren drink out of a water fountain at the LB, and I wouldn't either. I remember a game years ago when we played at Oxford. It was brutally hot, and even those idiots had piled up mounds of ice for anyone to apply to their faces or arms to cool down, and had big fans blowing mist at points on their concourse. Just common sense when folks start having heat sickness. It's truly like no one in LB management has an ounce of common sense, duty, or give-a-damn.

Sorry to hear that that happened to you, but still it is your choice.

Water was there in many places for those open to receiving it in others ways than bottled.

My point in telling you that was not to get your apology which is absolutely meaningless. It's just to let you know that public water fountains are not safe.
https://sites.psu.edu/siowfa15/2015/09/1...nk-out-of/

Water fountains have more bacteria than toilets.

The National Sanitation Foundation, which tests elementary schools for bacterial content, also found that more bacteria was in drinking fountains, not bathrooms. In their study, 2.7 million bacterial cells were found per square inch.

"There are many damaging pathogens that live in water fountains, which cause people to get sick. E-coli, legionella, and coliform are three types of bacteria found in water fountains. Drinking water also contains viruses, chemicals, and metals. These types of bacteria can cause stomach problems and pneumonia-like symptoms such as headaches, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Surprisingly, even a dog’s bowl is safer to drink out of than a water fountain"

There was no water or ice near the UCLA fans section at the half. I finally found a stand that had a cup of ice, no water or soft drinks, and they SOLD it to me for $4. REALLY?

I would have paid any amount of money for ice..I had dollah bills ready to buy as many cups as I could carry back to my friends.

But I found none.

I'm still not sticking my head under a sink in the restroom, and I'm not letting my grandchildren do that either. And I stopped drinking from public water fountains about four decades ago. And it's not really the details of this specific situation; yes, people could find water somewhere, and yes, perhaps bottled water was scarce because of the hurricanes. I would not begrudge those poor hurricane victims bottled water for one instant. But the CRUX of the matter is that the LB is still HIDEOUSLY managed, and this is just one more sign of it. Charging someone $4 for a styrofoam cup of ice?

There were faucets in the rest rooms. Not the best place but I saw many people washing their face and and drinking water from the faucets.

No excuse for the LB to run out. But you can't walk around crying about no water and do nothing about it if options were there.

My point exactly. As I said, I have little good to say about the city mgmt of the LB. And I am long on record supporting a university run stadium OC which I am confident would be managed much better. But I sure don't rely upon that LB facility mgmt to provide for my needs. And if I needed water & couldn't buy it in a bottle, I'd take the next best option - one of the hundred+ water spigots available at the LB & I'd fill a cup & drink the water needed.

Can you bring a cup in in your clear plastic bag?

I sat and talked with UCLA fans in the shade of the overhang on the visitor side the whole 2nd half. The subject of water never came up.

Some of you act like the LB should be Ruth's Criss.

Let me quote it for you:
http://csnbbs.com/thread-827390.html
Congratulations
It was our first visit to Memphis, and other than the outcome of the game, it has been great! People could not be nicer.

Enjoyed the Liberty Bowl, except the heat. And how does ANY stadium run out of bottled water by halftime on a hot day?

We really liked how you played a bunch of Memphis music during the pregame. Most bands play the same stuff as all other bands, but this seemed right.fs

As for the game, it was pretty much as expected. The teams blew through the Vegas over of 73, with plenty of time to go.

Frankly, I think think the better team won. Your receivers were wide open all day. Ours struggled to get separation.

I know we out-gained you, but the turnovers are part of the game, and with the game on the line, I thought your offense was running a lot better than ours.

Both teams committed A TON of bad penalties.

Personally, I think the fake FG call was brilliant, even if it didn't work. That wasn't the kind of game where a 6-point lead was much safer than 3 points.

And I really was impressed with Norvell's offense. There was so much misdirection, and it caused a ton of problems for us all day.

Have a great season. Good team, and good fans.

Norovirus, E. coli, Shigella, giardia, and other pathogens ~~ just some of the things you can catch from a water fountain.

But the dirtiest part of a water fountain is the handle you touch, and the rim and basin, which is always moist, ripe for bacteria. Many people spit into the basin before they drink. Many people place trash in water fountains. And all sort of other critters sip at fountains, from roaches to squirrels and rodents to birds.

Again, your choice. Germophobes are going to have a tough time at public events.

If you chose not to drink or let your grandkids drink fountain water, then you were probably dehydrated and uncomfortable. I and my group drank lots of fountain water and we were thankful for it.

You know what my first thought was when I found out there was no water...'O no, all these UCLA fans visiting us, and we have run out of water for them. How embarrassing.'

When I ride back with them tomorrow, I'm just going to apologize. lol.
You can bet your ass I'm not going to give them the answers some of y'all gave them here.

I sat and talked with UCLA fans in the shade of the overhang on the visitor side the whole 2nd half. The subject of water never came up.

Some of you act like the LB should be Ruth's Criss.

Did you not see the post of the UCLA fan here? He mentioned the lack of water.

lol Hold on now. Don't be throwing the C word around That's way out of line. Nobody said anything about c*****.

Second, if you chose not to drink fountain water, then don't blame the LB if you get dehydrated. I'm guessing that I drank drank 80 ounces of fountain water, and was thankful to have it.

If we ever meet I will make sure I shake your hand and give you a kiss on the cheek. Hopefully right after I drink from a public water fountain. LOL

What do you think happens in the kitchen of nearly every restaurant you eat at? What type of germs live in the concession stands at every sporting event you attend?

Everybody knew that this game was going to be one of the largest attended games even before the season started and well before UCLA was a ranked opponent.

The 2 stands I tried, did not provide free ice water. I bought a cup of ice for $4, then went to the water fountain. The fountains were working. But I'm not a big fan - especially after seeing people stick their heads into the fountain.
