While there are so many things to be disappointed in and frustrated about, Woodside, Thompson, and Vest were great tonite. Hats off to the whole team for having the Chuck Ealey spirit and refusing to be beat.

Me too. I think it was below zero. There weren't to many in Glass Bowl that night.

Reminiscent of the Fresno State game a few years back.

Yes it was. Refs really needed to lighten it up with all the damn flags and just let the men play...regardless, it was great to see Chris Norwood getting some game action. Just the start for him.

Yeah, that one was bad. Our guy was in the air when the ball left the President's hand,

RE: Tulsa at Toledo game thread
Just win baby, I'll take a 3-0 record heading down to Miami....but our run defense is going to kill us this season (just like last year). #4 just sliced through our Dline like it was nothing. LBs seemed nonexistent at times. I don't like only using 2 true LBs, would like to see at least 3 at a time to clog up the middle more.

Any word on Tuzar Skipper? Did not see him at all tonight. He was missed on the d-line, that's for sure.

The call was not because the hit was late, but because he hit him around the knees. Hitting the QB around the knees when he's in the pocket and passing is roughing the passer according to the rules - doesn't have to be late. Was a correct call.

He was in on the opening kickoff and came off the field limping.

RE: Tulsa at Toledo game thread
When playing these high octane offenses, I wonder if emotionally it would be better to take the ball first, if that's an option. Maybe having the option to try and score first is better than getting ball first second quarter, by which time you have actually seen the competition.
Unfortunately, now Miami was able to scout all the team's one play drives. Doesn't leave much in the play book to keep them guessing.
3 games already in the books. The season is zooming.

I thought we hit the QB Late and Low.
Great win.

Lighten up on which ones? "Roughing" is often controversial particularly with the targeting addition but first half, which shouldn't have been called? Clipping, hitting out of bounds, hi-low,.... SHould the ref not have stopped the game when Woodside thought his name was Whiteside and was left in the game?
I'm pretty sure they'd have been called by most crews, most games.

Why is our starting DE on Kickoff!

Most of them should have been called. There was a pass interference called on Teachey even though he turned his head back and what I thought just made a competitive defensive pass breakup.

I've seen our starting LB and best defensive player (Woodley) on kickoffs...

Cause UT has been using starter on special teams for many, many years. You usually see people like Taafe and Woodley on kickoffs, and Thompson on punt coverage teams. Been that way at least since Campbell, maybe even under Beckman.

I remember that one, also thought it was a clean play. The one against Tulsa fourth quarter was a close call. On replay, one announcer disagreed (Fox) and the other agreed. Reghy thought the Tulsa D has his arm draped, something couldn't be seen from the replay angle.

The only place Taffe should play is on special teams. And that is a stretch. I am not questioning his effort or character. I am sure he is a great kid. He just has a very difficult time locating the ball and taking proper angles. I saw him miss a tackle were he filled the gap and the running back had vertually nowhere to go but through Taffe. Somehow he completelty wiffed on the tackle. He misses way more tackles than he makes. Number 42 and 29 should be playing in his place.
