RE: Defense!!
My lasting impression of this game will be the Sutton Smith pasting of the QB

RE: Defense!!
This defense is really special at all 3 levels. I had high hopes for it coming into the year but this is well beyond my wildest expectations. Smith and Corcoran are animals. The interior D-line clogs the middle run. Linebackers are all studs led by Pugh. Secondary easily the best we've ever had.

Stoked to see it tested @ SDSU!

+1 should be interesting, fearing how the NIU offense stacks up against SDSU defense though, that could be ugly

Santa will be a lot better with Huff playing a bigger role. He will be more poised after his big game experience. We just need Carey to grow a pair. Grow a pair, coach...

Thanks for putting that together; seeing it like that brings home what a great job the D, and Nebraska was intimidated on O until the D started getting gassed in the second half. I still find it amazing; our Huskie D intimidating the Nebraska O!

MD keeps talking about how we will have to score 40+ to beat Toledo. I repeat. why would anyone think our D is giving up 40+ points to anyone?

RE: Defense!!
This defense is pretty elite. San Diego State will be another tough test, but we'll have an extra week to prepare as well as get treatment and get healthy. The Aztecs are good. Plain and simple. But this team is confident and talented. If we play another good game minus big mistakes, we could win this game. Win or lose, the beginning of MAC schedule is soft and we should go on a little streak.

Lets keep it rolling Huskies!

He's had a great year in 3 games. Wow. How bout Cochran's int? Great play under pressure , showed some real talent there. Great D

What made that play even crazier is that if Cochran (edit: might be Johnson's INT) didn't get it, Lurry was right behind him to get it. Lurry almost had two in one game.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but the turnaround in focus and disciplined play (lots on penalties to few) from playing EIU to Nebraska was huge. Almost makes me wonder if it was a strategy to lull Nebraska into thinking it would be a cake-walk. 03-shhhh :-)

RE: Defense!!
Only question this defense had coming into this season (at least in my mind) was the edge pass rush. That has been sufficiently answered. Regardless of what happens in San Diego, I like our chances in the MAC.

RE: Defense!!
Anybody else think Tanner Lee was rattled after that first pick-6? I mean, he threw 4 the previous week against Oregon, so I wonder if that was going through his head. Second one wasn't Lee's fault though as he got hit while throwing. But some of the other passes were a bit off target after that.

I don't think the first one was his fault either. He's just standing up and throwing on a bubble like that.

That was just a great play by Lurry. Great film study and an incredible break on the ball.

It was sweet karma for the Ohio State pick 6

Reminded me of the pick 6 Jimmie Ward had at Purdue. Outstanding break on the ball.

Yea I mean Lurry looked he was going full speed as he grabbed the ball. I don't think I've ever seen a pick 6 where the other team had less of a chance to tackle him.

Where does NIU rank this year nationally after 3 weeks. We should be top 40 in most categories?

NIU ranks 35th in total defense

SDSU ranks 29th
