They don't care about your $7.50, if you cut your cord as you visit a location we which pays the fee.

My favorite was when UCF vs Baylor played in the Festa Bowl. The announcers referred to UCF as a small school compared to Baylor just because they are in the Big 12. The crazy thing was UCF was the second largest school in the country at that time. While Baylor is one of the smaller schools in FBS.

Played out? No.
Overused? Yes.
Accurate? Most of the time.

Not to defend ESPN, but they did not originate the term.

The annoying thing for me is when fans don't even know the difference between a cupcake and a cream puff.

That's easy.

Kent State was Clemson's cupcake.

Louisville was our cream puff.

Some schools are Cupcakes, so that's exactly the word that should be used. So sick of the political correctness bullsh#t.

It's also a matter of scale.

Grambling is a cupcake to Tulane who is a cupcake to Oklahoma.

Is it demeaning? Yeah, probably. Is it over used? Yes.

A kid who goes to one of those "mid-major" schools works just as hard and as long as someone playing for a major. The difference is in talent level, so in that aspect, it isn't really fair to those student athletes who don't have the God given abilities to play for a powerhouse.

Problem is that since there isn't a preseason, the big boys need to play someone and that someone usually means teams of lesser standing and talent. Maybe "lesser talent" would be more appropriate. Perhaps warm up games.

It's a semantics thing.
