And as Wassink develops and gets more confidence we should be able to hit a few bigger plays in the passing game. Arnett stepped up after Watson got his bell rung. Ricci and Eskeridge both did some good and bad things, and Ernsberger could be a weapon down the seams.

I think Curtis had a nagging injury but with Curtis, Watson, Arnett, Ricci, and Eskeridge, it could turn into a nice little corps

Wassink completed 66% of his passes. No picks, 1TD. He played well for his 3rd game. Right now a true freshmen Arnett might be our best receiver. Eskridge has speed, cant catch. Barely caught the wide open TD. Curtis, Watson have shown nothing. Jury still out on Ricci. That fade was catchable and he looked clueless.

Why are we running Franklin wide? Bellamy yes, Franklin no.

Disguised blitzes. Nice to see again.
Chip you are right about running Franklin "wide"! That is not best use of one of our steady runners. Although he catches the ball out in the flat and runs over cornerbacks.

Quote:Well genius, that's why they play 4 quarters.

I don't think that's WHY they play 4 quarters. They don't play a 2nd half in basketball "just in case one of the teams sucks for a while". It's a real concern how we played for 3 quarters. We're getting our sh!t together, so one shouldn't expect puppy dogs & ice cream all 4 quarters this early in the season... and I expected Idaho to be a better team than the one who got Punked by UNLV so badly the previous week -- but MAN, it still puts us in position where we have to prove how good we are/will be. It was Idaho at home, not NIU.

This next game I think is key. If this turns out to be a kinda-too-close 1st half game, then late 3rd quarter we finally pull away by over 14pts -- Not Good. Would be a bad indicator of our potential, great 4th Q or not.

Wagner played two D1 schools last year; Boson College and UMass, losing 42-10 and 34-10 respectively. Even if Western got a sizable lead I don't think Lester piles on, not in his nature. I'd like to see Goddard and some of the backup WRs get some PT.

The Saint Francis Red Flash football team beat Wagner in week two 31 to 6. I don't think Wassink takes any steps back at this point. As the ESPN 3 commentator said last night, "he is making Joe Montana decisions out there" See told you.

RE: Idaho vs WMU
Definitely one of the more entertaining games I've been to at Waldo! Idaho, while dropping to FCS next year, came into this season off a Potato Bowl win and an excellent 5th year QB.

I know a lot of you are criticizing Lester - me included - but I saw this quote from him: "I've seen young QBs who are rushed into play and that ruins their development.'

Here's to hoping that Wassink we saw at the end is a sign of things to come!

They played Concordia (near A2), won 38-0.

We really missed Tranquill last night. You can tell that Ginwright was still learning. Completely missed coverage on a corner blitz, leaving their receiver wide open for a huge gain. He was late to react to several things. I'm sure it will come up in film study, so let's hope for some growth there next week.

I saw Doyle last night in a cast with one of those scooters. Didn't look good.

Any word on Assuoa?

Haven't seen anything official but I thought it was minor and he'd only miss a couple weeks. Hopefully he's back for MAC play, because we will need him.
