Tailgating Situation
It's our first home game and I was hoping you guys (or gals) might be able to give some insight on the tailgating situation.

Thanks!

Welcome to Game Day!

Our group gates in Lot 1 when it is open and Lot 88 when Lot 1 is closed (Homecoming, CMU, etc).

Lot 1 is a mix of young and old...a little light on students. Lot 88 seems to lean more to the middle years.

You are more than welcome to swing by. Brown and Shots are on the house!

I like spots on Oakland. My favorite spot is by East Campus, but now that seems to usually be unavailable because of other things. WMU is a great place for a football Saturday though. Enjoy.

Best spots are off Oakland Drive and Oliver.

Thanks for the 411. The idea of tailgating sounded great until I drove through the night and didn't get any sleep till a couple hours ago. Time to head over to Waldo for our first Broncos game!

Dropped the Vandals off, so now I'm just walking around Oakland. Lot 1 and Lot 88 are full.

So, now that we have a handle on the logistics, we're going to be tailgating for the Ball State game. I'd love to link up and maybe get a crash course in how Bronco's pre-game. If we have a start time of 7pm, how early can we arrive at the lot? I'll get there as early as I can and get a parking spot as near as possible to you guys. We'll be arriving in a grey F-150, FX4 crew cab.

Tailgating starts 4 hours before gametime so they will allow people into lots starting at 3.

BY 5PM lot 1 I have never had trouble getting a spot. Love the location it is just across the street from the stadium on Oakland. Laid back and easy to get out of post game as well. I usually plan on arriving by 5pm...right near there and have never had any trouble finding a place...

Things will thin out for tailgating now that the #bandwagonBroncos have gone back to being scUM fans.

No sheet 13,000 in attendance for the Wagner game supports that notion. We might have 20,000 for the Ball State game.

Is that the lot kind of by the Seelye Center? My family tailgates at that lot (and sit at a picnic table)

That 13K at the Wagner game was pathetic. Attendance is one of the reasons why I don't blame Fleck for leaving -> He deserves better. But anyways, sure, 20K sounds good because it's band night so there'll be the parents and the high schoolers.

RE: Tailgating Situation
We typically tailgate in the Reed Field House lot (can't remember the number). Probably a bit more low key than up on Oakland, but still a pretty good mix of old and young and an easy walk over to the stadium. Unfortunately we am out of town this weekend, so we won't be there for this one.

It was 95 degrees (actual) with a heat index of over 100.

RE: Tailgating Situation
I think the low quality opponent had more to do with low attendance than the heat, especially being a night game. I know GVSU had a game same time and had nearly 14000 there. It's embarrassing that a D2 school can draw bigger crowds than WMU.

Lot 1 is across Oakland and up the hill from the Seelye Center between Walwood and The Heritage Center overlooking the Davis Street Field. When you go into Lot 1 and veer slightly to the right, there is a small picnic area set down below the parking lot. That wall was the most amazing windbreak for the game v. Buffalo last year :)
