RE: Lester wrote letters to every member of the BMB
Great letter! Thought he'd have written "invite all your friends and classmates to the game!" too.

The canned music with the new sound system are good. The DJ was too loud and was working too hard to be "the show." Whoever made the decision to get rid of this gimmick, my hat's off to you.

Speaking of the band, when are we going to think big and move the band to the endzone like every P5.
What is the logic of wasting prime midfield real estate that could be sold at premium prices. I know some here played in the band and have kids in the band. You have to ask do we want what's best for "me" or what's best for the program?

Agreed, although I do wonder how many people would want to sit over there if they're surrounded by students.

Make it more attractive. Chairbacks, vendors, reasonable price. 300 searts at $40 each for 6 games is 72k. Better than getting nothing which is what we get now.
Seems to me our objective is to give the customer the best product we can.

I feel like this has been a conversation more than once in the past and it always comes down to a "chicken and egg" argument. On one side, there is no need to move them when we don't regularly sell out and season ticket demand isn't high enough. On the other, if we offer more attractive seating, maybe we will sell more season tickets.
Not every P5
WMU is not alone in the world in placing their band ON or near the 50. They definitely aren't in the majority, but it isn't without its parallel.

If you're so inclined, you can see where all marching bands at the majority of universities sit. Yes, there is actually a site for this.
The ironic part is that each one of those students pays far more for the credit hour for that class (yes, BMB is a class) than I do for my season tickets on the 45 yard line. I get to pay to sit in a seat. They get to pay to work their azzes off to provide you, the consumer, with a Division I Game Day atmosphere. A decent seat is a pretty meager thank you. Although 72k isn't a huge chunk in the larger picture, you are also operating under the assumption that this move would bring in 300 brand new paying spectators. The reality is that you would likely see more in the way of "upgrade" spectators. People outside of the 35's paying a little more for a seat on the opposite side of the field to be between the 35's. This is not a cash cow.

Dip I largely detest much of your posts but this is a very necessary idea. I'd be entirely content with moving the band to the end zone near the training center. The sound would probably carry fairly well through the entire stadium, rather than just playing to the pressbox side
I also like Aflagwa referring to seats on the 50 yard line as "decent." What??

A lot of the band barely seems to pay attention to the game anyway, they could do that from the end zone

I guess too many years of season tickets in Section D have made me unappreciative... Hopefully, you'll forgive my dismissive use of "decent" regarding this topic as reflective of my feeling that this is a non-issue.
Do it or don't. But, like Dip said, do it up right and sell it at a premium.

I can't say I detest your posts, since I'm not sure I've ever read one.
But since you detest most of mine I'm guessing you're referring to the Flecktards/Fleckdashian posts. I get it. It's like I'm insulting the ex-girlfriend who ran off with your best friend, but you still love her. #Mancrush

Honestly I stopped using these boards for years due to the constant negativity out of you, DB and others. I came back last year due to the change in participation. It was a golden era. I'm over PJ. Nobody's stuck on him like you though.
My general thought on the band, is they're great but always suffer from leadership having no football game awareness at all. Seemed like '15 was the first year where our band wasn't routinely loudly playing as we came out of the offensive huddle and we were at the line.
I think it was like 2012 where we became the first football team to draw a false start penalty because the band wouldn't stop playing Crazy In Love

Great! Maybe he should spend more time game-planning, though. Especially the offense.

After tonight he may be writing apologies to each of the fans who attended this game.
