Severe dislike of AF Football. Yup.
Interservice rivalry is fun, and it's founded in real organizational culture differences, but I like what the US Air Force brings to the joint fight.
I have some issues with the Air Force Academy, but I'd make those into constructive criticism rather than hate. Two of my favorite SEALs are USAFA grads.
USAFA Falcon Football? Nothing to like about that program. Dirty play - ask anyone in the mwc. Presently unfounded arrogance dating back to Fisher DeBerry who is the opposite of the admirable man AF fans make him out to be (see racist comments, religious bigotry, unsportsmanlike conduct on the field). Troy Calhoun? Dave Christensen was right.
As a program they lie to recruits and play fast and loose with the Prep School which could hurt those of us who play by the rules.
Nothing to like about AF Football. Can't say I think much about their other sports - we don't see them every year.

There is no guarentee you can get the OOC matchups every year, if at all for that weekend. And having one permanent crossover game would be weird. I still think this is the best option going forward.

UCF/USF - Simple, War on I-4.
Temple/UConn - NE partners. Listed under "Rivals" on each teams Wiki page (top sourcing right there)
Cincinnati/East Carolina - Longest standing series in the East.

Houston/Tulsa - Teh Rivalry. Longest standing series by far in the West
Navy/SMU - Gansz Trophy, current trophy game
Memphis/Tulane - Longest standing series for both teams out of West division

Noble setting, but the AF Academy's architecture is evocative of a mid-1950s Holiday Inn.

I would be okay with never playing UNC again in any sport ever. I do not want them to soil the campus of ECU by their presence.

What reason would you have to dislike USF?

The basketball rivalries seem to be stronger in this conference than the football ones, but it's a young conference so give it time. I really don't think anyone truly hates UH, except maybe the old school Tulsa fans who remember the 100-6 game in the Astrodome almost 50 years ago. I went to UH for college and TU for law, so I actually like both schools. However, I do hate any school that has ever lured away one of our head coaches, so that pretty much means half of the old SWC.

I don't hate UH in basketball...I feel sorry for them.


When you're like 152-1 against somebody, you tend to start feeling bad for them.

East Carolina's rival is NC State. I believe our conference rival is UCF.

Tulane vs USM is coming back in a few years. FWIW, it will actually be very close considering where both programs are at the moment.

Tulane vs. USM should be an annual game IMHO. It's cheap travel against a team that is challenging but not OP. Tulane and USM both put so much junk on the non-conference slate that there is no excuse for it to NOT happen...

The other school would be Houston. It's a love/hate. I actually love what they have done and love we are in conference again...however, when we get on field I want to hang 70 on them, every time.

Fresno, in both basketball and football for all their corner cutting and cheating.

Wichita St, its an old rivalry and when we are both going it gets heated and good. While recently its lost a little shine i expect it will be right back with us both aac now. I still remember jarius glenn blocking wsu's star, (Carr I think?) In 03 or 04 and pinning it against the backboard on a break away. Best TU play i have seen live, up there with antonio reed dropping the half court shot on KU right before half. Dante Swanson putting his hair in shocks for the game at wichita. Its good times when we get after each other.


Houston, teh rivalry is all there is in football. The old people remember the big games in the 60s, 70s, 80s. The newer ones remember the arrogance of cusa days and us running up the scores on each other.

Our biggest rival is NC State. I personally hate UNC. I just strongly dislike state.
