College Gameday September 23
Welcome to the big time boys and girls.. I can only assume due to the massive demand of the rabid fan bases NYC time square was the best place to host College Gameday. Who are the teams that play closest to times square that day, you ask?

No joke, by dozens of miles, at 220 miles away is UC AND NAVY! We have made it to the big time apparently since we are the closest game to gameday that day...

In a more serious point... wtf are they thinking hosting gameday in times square..

I live in NYC...so of course theyd have gameday in city when I'm en route to Maryland for Navy game....

In theory the idea is awesome, but because everyone in New York represents a different college, this will turn into a massive train wreck off camera. Fans will be NUTS and because you have so many different rivals in one place, people won't be able to contain themselves and it will lead to more fights and confrontations. Probably not a bad thing that I can't attend.

I figured they'd talk about NYC's teams-- Syracuse and Rutgers (even though they are both on the road. 03-wink

I really doubt there will be many fans there

And the most passionate ones that are willing to get in a fight for their teams will be at their team's actual game

Several million people in NYC - at least a few thousand fans will be there.

Im close with a lot of passionate fans from many Big Ten schools and some ACC, they can't fly to games every weekend so that second statement isnt all that accurate.

Well this is curious. Do we anticipate a generic College Gameday? I thought the whole point in taking it out of studio was to highlight the rabid fans, campus scene and the hoopla surrounding a particular game.

But then again, with the path ESPN appears to be on, they just may be covering a political rally on Times Square.

Its lazy. Cheaper to go to Times Square than to a college campus. Disney must be telling them to cut costs...or they figure more New Yorkers will watch ESPN that day, the way that Sunday Night Baseball seems to always be a Yankees or Red Sox game. Quickest way for ESPN to get better ratings is to get more people in the biggest US city to watch.

Hey the Naked Cowboy is a Cincinnati native. If there are any relatives/family friends on the board, see if you can talk him into wearing undies with a c-paw on the back.

I cant watch ESPN anymore and it isnt even their political slant. To me every game they pipe crowd noise in so loud I can not hear the announcers say one word. I did try to watch OSU/Oklahoma last weekend and as far as I can tell did not hear Herbstreet say one word. I never hear anyone talk about this...perhaps it is just me. There are times when it feels like the teams band is in my garage playing it is so loud.

Anyone else notice this?

No issues on my end Karl. How does your audio work? Possible you have your receiver misconfigured?

Yes. When I watch the ABC Saturday night game I can barely hear the announcers. I listen using surround sound but no other games have the same issue

I used to have that issue with WKEF in Dayton and actually worked with their engineers to fix their transmission. I wonder if that is going on in Cincinnati. I didn't have the issue with WatchESPN hence that was how I discovered the issue over the air.

Perhaps MSESPN was tipped off that there was going to be a white nationalist/supremacist demonstration there. Thus the network wanted to be there so they can cover all the social interactions/events.

Get a sound bar for your set, and you are provided with many options.

I can attest the sound for the Ohio State/Oklahoma game was terrible for us too. Background/crowd noise seemed way too loud relative to crowd. I was tempted to turn the sound off and turn on the radio.

Same exact thing again for me tonight. ABC can barely hear the announcers. On FOX the sound is perfect
