Detroit is "the local media."
Do we even have local media.

It is for me
As opposed to ESPN, FS1, USATODAY yes Detroit sports coverage is the largest local media market

Ha local for us Metro Detroiters . When the MAC is covered it's the chimp alumni at the Freep or Wxyz tv that feature their school.Very little mention of WMU. The Detroit News has covered the Broncos very well and have continued to do so after last years banner year.

Darius is a stud - no doubt about it! I'm sure he won't get many chances for KO return because it's foolish to kick to him. Philip's reminds me of the "Rocket" who played at ND.

Tony Paul has been one of the best the Detroit area has ever seen in publishing WMU stories and updates. I've been impressed.
As for Phillips, it says something when he reels off another 100 yard TD after Dantonio specifically stated he wanted to stop him from burning them. He single-handedly kept the score looking 'reasonable.'

It's weird that Brett Scanlon was quoted saying he was planning to go right at Darius Phillips.
Conflicting messages.
Either way, stupid.
Darius is going to be mid-to-late 1st round pick at the rate he's going this year.

Darius came off the field for entire drives after his big plays though, and MSU scored both times.

Funny you mention that. I said to a friend that Dantonio was gonna Schembechler it and insist on kicking to DP aka Rocket Ishmael. Wise choice is to kick out of bounds or to up back.

This may not matter...
I loved hearing in the presser how the Special Teams Coordinator had scouted and told #4 how to read the kicker alignment to know where it is going to go. That is how he got under so many against State.
Or...squib all day every day and let us start around the 35 each possession. Not a bad proposition, either.

RE: D Phillip's path to WMU & possibly the NFL?
Started listening to WTKA, The Michigan Insider on morning drives since a.m. Detroit sports talk has gone to s#!+. Sam Webb who has a good grasp of recruiting in state mentioned this detnews piece this morning. He caught a couple inaccuracies that I glossed over. Marrone & Wheatley weren't canned by Syracuse, they took NFL jobs.
As for Sam's commentary on DP, I couldn't count the number of "outstanding"s he used to describe Darius. He also said that he was severely underrated out of Robichaud and he was definite that Phillips WILL be playing on Sunday's. Will post the podcast when it becomes available
