Pigletville AD reaffirmed that he will never play Arkansas State yesterday because "right now everyone in the state is a Razorback fan, and such a game would divide that fan base."

Because you know all Arkansas State fans are secretly Razorback fans or something...

That sparked an article out of the major instate newspaper, which for the first time in its history, appears to not necessarily paint the piglets in a good light. Also references Coastal Carolina getting 1.5 million to come beat Arkansas in November.

I thought this lame, tired ass topic was reserved for off-season. I don't want to play them. I hope it never happens. They are totally irrelevant to us, and we don't need them to validate our success. Which they'd try to do if they "gave" us a game. Screw 'em.

As they continue to divorce themselves from central Arkansas fans and the media, the more this will happen. I suspect Long's restrictive policies on the newspaper's access might have something to do with the current batch of less than favorable coverage for them in Little Rock. I hope they keep it up.

How nice of Arkansas-Fayetteville's athletic director to consider how his actions will affect Ark State. What a swell guy! LoL.

ULM be in the grove watching LSU game during ULM. LSU plays Miss State same time . We have to win games change some of that but for a lot ULM fans LSU is a huge deal to them.

Used to be our expensive seats were empty if the Hogs were playing in LR or had a top 20 in Fayetteville see much less of that.

Few "both" fans got their feelings hurt when the chant "I smell bacon" started up in the Women's NIT game.

Their former SID is on a Little Rock radio sports show and before the WNIT he was sneering about how if playing UA were that big of a deal the game would sellout, and it did.

The number of "A-State Only" fans has been growing steadily the last 5 years.

We currently have a critical mass where its considered a social faux pas to be caring about them.

This because we have been having fun, and they have been utterly miserable. We have been happy. They have been mean, grumpy, and hostile.

The real test will be when they have some success and/or we suffer a bad spell.

I am pretty sure the thUGA new HC is taking the avoid instate programs path now as well. They are playing MTSU now I hear.

no, as Frank Broyles said many years ago, playing stAte would give them some legitimacy and he didnt want that to ever happen. the only way to get their attention would be to get good and then their fans would cry out for a match up so they could supposedly put you back in your place. beat em and it might become a really good rivalry. we have much the same thing going on here in texas with the teasippers.

The Arkansas AD sounds like a total moron.

He assumes his school has some sort of monopoly on state fandom, and then assumes that the citizens are too delicate to be torn apart by an instate football game. I'd be insulted if I lived in Arkansas. Every other state has an instate rivalry of some kind and the world keeps spinning. It surely will in Arkansas too.

If UA was willing to play you guys in a 2fer 1 if it was 2 games in Fayetteville, and the stAte "home game" bring in Little Rock. Would you guys go for it???

I grew up in Little Rock and was a big pigs fan in the '70s, I detoxed when I went to college at Arkansas Tech. I now have a special hog call: Woo Pigs Lose! Anyone who thinks that everyone from Arkansas is a pig fan is a moron. Among Arkansas' D1 schools I cheer for Little Rock and stAte. I will admit that I can't wait to go to a pig game next season but I will be there to cheer for Colorado State to beat them in Fort Collins.

My view once upon a time was that we play anybody, anywhere, any time and would take the normal deal any Sun Belt vs. SEC would take. Wherever they wanted.

No more. If they ever want it then I would want to play home and home or at a neutral site annually more like a real in-state rivalry.

I had thought once upon a time about playing at the site of the previous year's victor. That would let us earn a home game any year that we beat them.

In any event, it would need to be a special deal and not some one-off buy game for me now.

I'm just not that into them anymore. We can get profitable buy games lots of other places.
