Annnnnnnd ECU didn't score again. They gave up 57 UNANSWERED points. Holy moly they are bad this year.

VT had 675 yards of offense, tying a program record. The 64 points they scored was only the third time they've scored that many since 1987. Wow.

Clemson looks just as good as last year, to be honest. Maybe better in some units.

Yeah, I would say that Clemson looks better. Great poise by Bryant. Louisville clearly outclassed tonight.

RE: Open Thread - 2017 Football Season - Week 3
Congrats to Clemson as we head home from the game. I didn't expect a win but did expect a competitive game. I knew that would be the best defense Louisville saw all season but even more impressed than expected. Quick summary thoughts...

On Louisville only scoring 21, more credit to Clemson D than anything.

On this Clemson offense scoring 47 and rushing for 296, I put it more on Louisville D than Clemson O. I think Louisville D didn't give complete effort in 2nd half and I honestly don't think the Tigers O is that good. The absolute best off-season response to the hiring of Sirmon as D coordinator was "Hmm, give him a chance". I'm ready to can him after three games.

This was Louisville's 26th ACC game. It's only the 2nd time they've been blown out (beaten by more than 11). Louisville was 10-2 at home in ACC play with the losses by 3 and 11 points. Kudos to Clemson on the blowout win.

Best team in the country again beats the most overrated player in the country.

On to BC.

If it's any condolences to the Card fans this win by Clemson will be remembered forever because it was a win away from Death Valley against a ranked opponent so we will be getting a tombstone for it. You'll be joining the likes of Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, FSU and Alabama for the first time as peers.

Clemson's defense stifles Lamar Jackson in dominant win
http://www.espn.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/9...minant-win

Quote:That Clemson so easily dominated Kent State... expected. That this defense pummeled Jarrett Stidham to the tune of 11 sacks... explained as a product of too much hype for Auburn. But to overwhelm Jackson, the wizard who conjured 1,010 yards of offense in his first two games and 457 yards against Clemson last season, was something else altogether.

Start with Dorian O'Daniel, an afterthought on a team wrought with five-star talent, now in his fifth year on Clemson's defense... his interception return for a touchdown against Jackson was the backbreaker that all but sealed Louisville's fate. The most absurd part? It was Clemson's first takeaway of the season. The Tigers' D had been this good without forcing a turnover.

All of which begs the question: If Clemson's D can control the game without takeaways, if it can slow the most dynamic player in the country, if it can smother back-to-back top-15 teams, who is going to actually test this group down the road?

This gives Clemson 2 wins over then-ranked opponents (#13 Auburn, #14 Louisville). Potentially ranked opponents the rest of the season for Clemson:
09/30/17 @ Virginia Tech
11/11/17 Florida State
12/02/17 ACC Championship Game

That pick 6 was a back breaker but I think that chop block was just as huge. It took a potential Cards TD away & gave it to the Tigers. It kept the Cards from seizing any offensive momentum.

Dabo been at Clemson for something like 10 years. Until 3 years ago they were considered "chokers" by all of America. I am glad they got over the hump. I can't wait until we do. Best of luck the rest of the season Clemson and I hope y'all win it all again! We've got some work to do and I'm optimistic we will get it done.

That's what happens when you hire quality people instead of scumbags who cut and run every chance they get or get fired for having the morals of an alley cat.

It was patronizing and a subtle shot. The next classy gesture I see from a Louisville fan will be the first.

I'm just happy for the first time in four years we don't have to put up with y'all whining about refs or some imaginary slight, or whatever. Don't expect to hear much of it in the future either because your defense couldn't even stop our backups. We emptied the bench of everybody who traveled except the injured and the freshmen we are hoping to redshirt.

It's alright Len. After your team gets 50+ points rung up on them you get a little salty. Surprised he can spell the HC's name right in both football and basketball.
We are gonna be fine. These past years and in future years we are playing the best all around schedule we have ever played! The last couple of steps are always the hardest when you climb the ladder to the highest level. Great luck to Clemson for the rest of the year! Go Cards and Go ACC!

Those darn "A's", "E's", "I's" and "O's" can be tricky.
