What to make of Shaq thus far?

Dear EagleTough,
Mr. Vann probably did not make any points with the coaches on his fumble. That said, I think the coaches are maybe looking to rotate the backfield. We have four good running backs. Don't forget Eriksen.

Turner should get more touches. Also thinking they should mix in some passes to the backs. Is Eriksen only getting carries on short yardage situations?

The OL has struggled to open holes in my opinion. Rutgers has a decent DL so that may be a factor too.

RE: The RB dilemma
Vann and Turner look like the 2 best runners so far and should be getting the most carries. I'm surprised Turner didn't get any carries week 1, and he looked very effective in his touches yesterday against Rutgers. Turner has a bit of a burst that others may not have. Erikson runs hard in short yardage but his biggest contribution has been used as a third down back indicative that coaches trust his pass blocking/receiving ahead of the others.

I hope coaches continue to use all 4 , we should expect that Turner gets more opportunities.

I'm thinking that's part of the problem. Too much rotation, can't just rotate all 4 when they all have very different skill sets. Doesn't allow your best 2 (Vann & Turner) to get into any kind of rhythm.

Eriksen a good back, tough kid, should primarily be the short yardage guy and a pass catcher. Would be nice to see some RB screens from Keen, don't think we've had a single one in the first 2 games?

Banham is a specialist. Great kid, earned his scholarship, but should primarily be a special teams leader and punt returner.

Vann does seem to be a half step slower at this point, as someone mentioned during the game. May just be a combination of the new OL, and him still getting back to 100% after the injury.

Turner the best natural runner of the group. Doesn't quite have the size or strength of Vann, but has the slight wiggle, and vision, to get the most yardage the defense gives him.

Will be interesting to see how it evolves now that the coaches have seen 2 games, and our MAC opener against Ohio is up next.

RE: The RB dilemma
I have a hunch that Banham was used the way he was vs. Rutgers because it was just part of the blueprint coming into the game. "Just rotate him in and see what happens." And/or maybe they just don't want Vann/Turner taxed before we get into MAC play.

That said, having both Banham and Daugherty on the field on first and goal was... stu- ... I wouldn't have done that.
