But it's really just not matched what the hope was IMO. Nothing they did when they launched stuck. Fox Sports live was absolutely brutal. First night- they have a promo and one of the guys is literally screaming Saints, Colts, Fox, Sunday. One of the dumbest things I've ever heard on TV.
They do not have enough of the big 3 sports that you need in USA- football, basketball, and baseball. They really do have some decent pieces I think otherwise. I personally like the Nic Wright/Cris Carter show in the mornings. Even Skip/Shannon I like in small doses. If Fox had been smart, they would have been the ones who developed what ESPN did with SVP at midnight. I think Fox made a mistake in starting it when it did. I mean, start 2 years earlier, and they may have been able to get some NHL, and even maybe more college sports- both of which would have helped out a lot. I do think Fox thought they would be able to get some NBA which would have been huge.

Everyone wants to talk with FS1 how huge MLB is, but really it's not. I mean, they're only guaranteed 8 playoff games even(if both LDS wind up 3 game sweeps- remember 1 of the games each series is MLB network- and then LCS is a sweep).
But even with all that MLB, ESPN has no games on Saturday. They know that's reserved for college football.
Rome was not built in a day
right, but it's now year 5. it's not like FS1 is only in year 1 or 2. Let's be real about it.
FS1 is still having weeks where they are averaging only 264k viewers in prime time. Just think about that. For the 7 nights of prime time- FS1 is only getting 1.848 million viewers- combined. ESPN got more than that just in the LSU/Miss St game. ESPN2 got 1.613 million viewers for the Colorado St/Alabama game on Saturday night.
And the thing is, there's nothing out there that will change this picture for the near future. What FS1 is getting from the Big Ten is just as I predicted not enough to make any sorts of a difference. The reality is that FS1 is not close at all to ESPN, and it's very possible it never will be.
