RE: P5 vs. P5 non-conference records (updated through week 3)
Week 4 results:

Syracuse - LSU
Notre Dame - Michigan State

There are no P5 vs. P5 non-con games in Weeks 5, 6, or 7. The only ones remaining in the regular season are 6 Notre Dame games (4 vs. ACC teams, 2 vs. Pac-12 teams) and the 4 ACC-SEC rivalry games in Week 13.

I was looking at the overall out of conference record yesterday (not just P5-P5) and looked at 2006-2010 before the most recent realignment. There was the SEC at the top, the Big 12, Big East and Big 10 in a 2nd tier with those 3 capturing all the 2nd and 3rd place slots, then the Pac 10, ACC and MWC in a 3rd tier, with CUSA a clear 8th, MAC 9th, Sun Belt 10th. If you gave 10 points for the best record down to 1 for the worst for each of those 5 years, the "Poll" came out like this:
1. SEC 50 (5 firsts)
2. Big 12 39
2. Big East/AAC 39
4. Big 10 38
5. Pac 10 30
6. ACC 25
7. MWC 24
8. CUSA 15 (5 straight 8th places)
9. MAC 9
10. SB 6

Obviously the conferences have different strength of schedules ooc, but it does give you some general information on conference strength.

Your polling methods may not be the most scientific, but it does show that the Big East was strong conference. Its biggest issues were traveling attendance (other than WVU) and the weird years where a complete dark horse could win the conference and the slot in a BCS bowl. I wouldn't want to say it was a tweener, because 90% of the time did belong with the big boys, but there were just those peculiarities.

Big East 2 was underrated. Part of it was the very top wasn't quite as good. But on average they were competitive with the rest of the BCS.

The away team won all four of the ACC-SEC rivalry games this year.

And with those results, the final 2017 season standings are:

Pac-12 7-3

Big Ten 7-6

SEC 7-9

Big 12 4-6

ACC 9-13

IMO bowls should be a separate category. But we can add them in.

These are listed in wrong order:

The Order should be:

PAC 12: 7-3; 70.00 % WP
Big Ten: 7-6; 53.8% WP
SEC: 7-9; 43.8% WP
ACC: 9-13; 40.9% WP
Big 12: 4-6; 40.0% WP
