Medal of Honor Bowl?
What's the deal with the Medal of Honor Bowl?

Wikipedia says they were looking to host a game in January 2018?

I can't find any updated information beyond that. Their website and Twitter feed haven't been updated since 2015/2016.

Unless they can move an existing game the NCAA has imposed a moratorium on accepting applications for new bowls.

Ahh...I was wondering if it was something like that. Thanks.

Also unlikely to happen after El Cid is tearing down half of their stadium and downsizing after discovering the away side was covered in dangerous lead paint.

funny about lead paint. everything was painted with lead based paint when I was growing up but I guess my generation didnt eat any of it all those years..now if some is found anywhere a swat team of hazmat people swarm in and save everyone. I have heard that you can be banished now if they catch you drinking water from the garden hose..

It's not necessarily eating the paint that is the only dangerous thing. (Although it obviously is) If you chip lead paint and the dust gets into the air, it can be dangerous for anyone to breathe in.

They were trying to convert it from an all-star game to a bowl game. They announced their intentions after the NCAA lifted the ban for bowl games / pre-determined championships in SC once SC removed the confederate flag from the state house. Then NCAA announced a moratorium on new bowls. Now the Citade is reducing the capacity of their stadium.

I like to see us finally break out of the G5 bowl groupings and get a tie in with a P5 conference. Imagine the joy on our end to see a bowl game force an instate matchup. AU/UA v South/Troy, GaTech/UGA v GaSo/GaSt, ULM/ULL v LSU, TxSt v TAMU, and of course the big one, stAte v the all powerful hog nation that is Arkansas.

I think the Georgia match ups in some way have happened, correct???

It's probably a pipe dream but this is what I would like to see in the next round of Bowl Negotiations:

New Orleans: SBC #1 vs ACC or Big 10
Dollar General: SBC #2 vs CUSA
Camellia: SBC #3 vs MAC
Cure: SBC #4 vs AAC
Arizona: SBC #5 vs MWC

Rather see it this way. If our #1 plays a P5 conference in a bowl, we will get their #9/10. If we win we get the, "Well team X didn't care" excuse. At some point, as much as it hurts to admit, we have to realize we are not competing with the P5 conferences, we are competing with the G5 conferences. No reason not to see our best against their best and see how it shakes out.

We put our #2 up against a P5 #9/10, it just feels better. And let's face it, we aren't getting a bowl against a P5 #1-7.

I'd like I'm the next round of bowl agreements to get one with the Independence Bowl. That could be our SEC tie in game.

Good because that side of the stadium was a piece of ****.

The home side isn't all that great either.
