AState recovers from near disaster Thursday to beat Southern and Central Florida Friday,

5-5. Will finish nonconference play next week in the Rice Invitational against Georgetown, Rice, and Stephen F. Austin. Coastal comes to Jonesboro to open league play in 13 days.

UTA goes 0-3 in New Mexico. Loses to WCC contender Portland 3-0.

Coach Chisum got her 850th win over the weekend. TXST alum and one of the best coaches TXST has ever had.

They need to name something after her.

AState takes 2 of 3 at Rice. Beat Georgetown 3-1 and swept Stephen F Austin, but lost in 5 tight sets to Rice.

Some team called Coastal Carolina comes to town on Friday Night.

at 6-7 the mavs dont look very good and have lost to a few schools that arent very highly regarded, so it doesnt look like the coaching change is going to bring much of a boost this season. maybe this is a rebuilding year.

At Baylor tournament TXST went 0-3

We've played a really difficult schedule, but still have two or three losses we should not have taken. Team's been through Hell. Our top 3 Setters on the depth chart are all out injured, so we have kids playing out of position, and to top it all off, the team got robbed while they were in Rice and a lot of the equipment got stolen. We had to pay Rice to use their equipment for the SFA match, (Which we won heavily, so maybe we shouldn't give any of that stuff back)

Perfect Time (Not) to be playing Coastal. At least the SBC tournament is in Jonesboro this year, so seeding isn't as crazy important as it is normally.

I'm not sure that has much to do with it though. AState and Coastal played significantly more difficult schedules than some teams in the league did.

They could both easily still run through the league without looking back.

TXST was 8-9 in OOC games last year and went 13-3 in conference so, we'll see how this plays out.

UTA beats Troy, 3-1.

Gads, we were swept by USA.

Coastal beats AState 3-1. First 3 sets were tight, the 4th set was most certainly not.
