CBS: Will NCAA Take Titles Away from UL or UNC?
https://www.cbssports.com/college-basket...ouisville/
CBS polled everyone from head coaches at elite programs to assistants at some of the smallest schools in Division I. In exchange for complete anonymity, coaches give unfiltered honesty about a number of topics in the sport.
Do you believe the NCAA will vacate Louisville's 2013 title?
Yes - 58%
No - 42%
Do you believe the NCAA will vacate at least of North Carolina's titles from 2005 and 2009?
Yes - 21%
No - 79%
Some interesting quotes from anonymous coaches in the article as well. Worth a read.

I agree with this
Quote:At the same time I think vacating wins is a joke. The game was played. It was won or lost. You can't erase that from memory. If you're talking about vacating wins, just drop the hammer and punish the wrongdoers. The kids had to win the game, put the ball in basket, get stops defensively – the game was played. I always think the vacating wins is a joke.
and this
Quote:A few coaches offered a solution that is practical and gives the programs a legitimate punishment while not handicapping the players: multiyear NCAA Tournament bans, with players having immediate eligibility elsewhere.

This makes too much sense. So it likely wont happen.

I find it interesting just how many of them seem to think Pitino and Williams knew exactly what was happening.

I strongly disagree. The game was played by people who didn't represent the university.
If I suit up for my daughter's 4th grade basketball team and help them win the city championship, I think it's pretty clear that it wasn't "a team of players from Little Flower grade school" that won the games. This is the exact same thing.
If I found out tomorrow that one of my school's stars took money or passed a bunch of sham classes, in my mind it would be like he never existed and we never won those games. *edit - I sort of feel that way about UC's 1-and-done basketball player, Lance Stephenson. Although I'm sort of ok with the games we won while he was here because he wasn't that good of a player for us *. If they don't feel ashamed for getting caught cheating, that's their problem for having a misformed conscience.

No, you playing for a 4th grade basketball team is not even close to being the same as, say, Derrick Rose playing for Memphis. And a Louisville basketball player who got a free lap dance (or more) is still a Louisville basketball player.

I guess we'll agree to disagree. The only reason I watch college sports (instead of pro sports) is that college sports teams are supposed to be composed of "student-athletes" who are attending college.
If you're being paid (with money or free tattoos or free lapdances), you're a professional, not a "student-athlete."
If you drop out midway through the semester (likely because you never attended classes that semester), you're not a "student."
If you were fraudulently admitted to the school, you're not a "student." You're kicked out and all credits are revoked.
