I get RamblinRedWolf's point, but realignment has destroyed rivalries and it's probably the longest-running series among any pair of teams in the SBC or CUSA.

per our reference guide, Astate and the Cajuns have duked it out every season from 1993 to the present, with the exceptions being 2000, 2002 and 2003. Surprisingly, Red Wolves and ULM battled in 1993 and didn't play one another again until 1998; afterwards they wouldn't meet on the gridiron again until 2001, both universities inaugural year in the conference and they have played every season since.

I wouldn't be surprised if both cajuns and warhawks have competed against one another every season since 1993

That's like saying South has beat Troy every time we've played except for the those times we didn't....

Didn't play 1993-1996.

I would rather beat Louisiana than any other team in the conf. Of course I have really enjoyed all of the wins.

RE: Most Heated Sun Belt Rivalries
Maybe I'm doing thing wrong (or - more probably - right), but I have never been anywhere even close to a physical altercation in a stadium or tailgate lot.

I'm a sports nut and a die-hard for every school/pro team I root for and will gladly argue anything for a solid hour. But I've never even sensed that an interaction with an opposing fan was about to get violent or vulgar.

For every horror story I hear, I account 90% to possibly beverage-aided aggrandizement of the issue and 10% to beverage-aided total loss of control and general jackassery.

If any App, GaSt, or any other Sun Belt fan wants to put up with a huge argument for the duration of our tailgate, I'm all for it. We'll walk away still disagreeing, but we'll still be ready to achieve the much more important goal of detaching from the rest of life for a few hours and supporting our team.... and beer. We'll also achieve the goal of drinking all of the beer.

Had an App football player and his non football player posse try and start something with my group once when we won in Boone and were chanting a little in a restaurant parking lot. We did not see anyone in the parking lot while doing it so not being dicks or anything, we were pretty much in our cars at that point and we were like mehhh. We outnumbered them pretty badly might have gotten ugly if we had met face to face but that is about it.

Well when you put it from 1993 to the present, I think it makes it pretty notable the Cajuns and Red Wolves have battled it out every year with the exception of those three seasons (and I just mentioned ULM because quite frankly I was surprised we missed them as many times as we did from 93 until the SBC began sponsoring football in 2001).

So what you're saying is that you guys and the Cajuns have battled it out every year since 2004

Our rivalry series is old enough to buy a round of drinks at the bar. The stAte/Cajuns series is still trying to get over-the-shirt action at its middle school dance. 04-cheers

We've played the Cajuns 45 times according to wikipedia....or 43 times depending on how you look it up. They probably have not updated that one section. With the exception of Memphis, that's the most times we've played anybody. I'd have to say that we can't stand tiger high the most, followed by La Tech, and then the Cajuns. In conference and in football....has to be the Cajuns.

43 Times according to Winsipedia.

When you look up the all time record vs current Sunbelt teams it shows us playing UL 45 times, yet they list 43...... . All at wikipedia, lol. I would trust the other site more though.

RE: Most Heated Sun Belt Rivalries
The Cajuns and the Warhawks have met a total of 52 times. That's the most any 2 current Sunbelt teams have played. One would think it would be a heated rivalry, but La Tech is not liked by either school (anybody really) and used to be in the thick of things. Tech, like us, was in the Southland, then independent, then the Big West (then WAC) prior to their current affilliation. If Tech had fallen off the face of the earth in the 60's then the Cajun/Warhawk rilvary might be a bigger deal. All this opinion from someone a state away may not be completely accurate. Louisiana folks feel free to correct me.

I agree. Arkansas State is probably our biggest rivalry. Used to be LA Tech, but we hardly play them any more. ULM is an in-state school and a bit of a rivalry, but not at the top of the list for us.

Been to Statesboro more than a dozen times. Other than some drunk student (imagine that) running his mouth as we were walking to the stadiium once, we've never had any issues. Obviously there's going to be some good natured ribbing, but we were almost always invited over to tailgate. If you are looking for trouble, it's a good bet you'll find it.

Yep... I'm 4-for-4 on scoring food, drinks and good conversation with App fans in Boone. If I was hellbent on finding a fight, I'm sure I could have been just as successful.

I don't think that has anything to do with the rivalry. I think I could do the same anywhere. It's entirely possibly to be a great fan without being a reckless ass

All of that said, any other fans can hit me up if they're coming to statesboro. I guarantee we won't run out of beer or arguments.

Through the years, La Tech has been liked enough by schools that made up the WAC and CUSA to be invited to join those conferences, so your statement that nobody "likes" us is pretty lame.

ULM and ULL hate us for sure, but nobody at Tech really cares what either of them think. I always thought well of Ark State, but you guys turned bitter towards us when La Tech left for the WAC, and you got worse when we joined CUSA. I'm sure that our recent bowl game against you guys didn't do much to improve your opinion of us either.

I was once told that the opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference. I'll start worrying when you guys no longer care what we do. Until then, I'm glad you take the time to keep us in your thoughts.
