After seeing the performance of the Broncos OLine last year and early this year, Paxton watching might not be a bad thing. He will get his chance.

Backup NFL QB might be the best career choice on the planet. Make a fortune with no stress, headache, concussions.

Yup and you are often the most popular player on the team among fans... Really not a bad gig at all.

A first round draft pick not getting a run of games as a starter by their second year is a failure by that player and poor management. To pretend Paxton has been anything less than a disappointment thus far is delusional.

Hope he gets a chance to prove that wrong.

It would have helped if he could have stayed in the same offense for more than one year.
QB's sometimes struggle to learn a West Coast offense like Denver was running last year. Then he gets a new coordinator..and he has to learn different concepts, timing etc.
The talent is there....he just needs time.
Tony Romo was a good QB for Dallas. It took him several years before he ever saw the football field in games.

That is not really true. Traditionally most QBs are not expected to be a starter until two or three years out. The idea that most QBs are ready to go straight from college to the NFL is silly and only a few and far between are talented enough to do that.

Plenty of players, especially QB aren't immediate starters and some wait several years to develop and make an impact.

The Green Bay Packers would tend to disagree.

yep, it took Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers years to see the field as a starter in the league. Tony Romo was another late bloomer.

Rodgers was stunk behind a Hall of Famer. Paxton is stuck behind Trevor Simeon

People tend to forget this. It's the fact that he lost out to another young guy that's no really that good is what worries me. If it were a Steve DeBerg type veteran then it would be different.

Not a surprise really, Paxton hasn't looked too good in preseason.

Paxton is just 23 years old.

He has a lot of time and chances still ahead of him.

Actually Siemian has been a pretty solid young QB. And Denver really doesn't have many offensive weapons or much of a running game. OL has been weak as well.

People here have a tenancy to pretend he is horrible because our guy is behind him.

But thats not really been the case at all.

But they are playing him over the 1st round draft pick. Two years in a row with two different coaching staffs. There is no way this can be a good thing for Lynch.

This isn't fantasy football.

Siemein has played far better than where he was drafted and has clearly established himself as a legit NFL QB.

No one even remotely suggested this was a "good thing" for Paxton. But its really disingenuous to frame it as him getting beat out by Barney Fife.

Again, Paxton is just 23 years old. Long way to go here.
