RE: Things you disagree with the majority of your fan base on?
Here are some things most AppFans may disagree with me on:

1) I don't like "classic Yosef". I call him "stink eye" or "Egyptian tomb painting Yosef"

2) I'd like a "no tailgating" parking area. I'd pay extra for it. A designated RV parking area would be good too.

3) We need more club level seating and to eliminate the grass GA area...

4) Most Georgia Southern fans I've met are pretty cool. They like thier football just like we do.

5) I'd like to hear a whole lot more band and a whole lot less pop music during the game.

6) I like Taylor Lamb and respect him as a leader. He athletic ability is only above average. Having said that: I wouldn't trade him for any other SBC QB this year.

My thunder on this is already stolen, but I'm fine with whatever offense we run as long as it is competent and we win ballgames. In fact, I hope that next time we change coaches we DO go away from the option and still win just so people can finally believe it's possible.

The rest of the conference will be hoping the same thing...
When your opponents support your changes, you should know that you just messed up.

I too prefer the Band get to play more during the game.
Some "radio" is ok - but it takes away from the College Game Day experience to not have the band involved. Plus all that hype cuts into the cheerleader lead chants.

I don't know if that is a popular opinion or not though.

Refusing to announce times to closed practices and not having a spring game or fall scrimmage that fans can watch. I've seen "closed" scrimmages where more curious people walk in and the play calling all of a sudden gets very vanilla. Two years ago, all practice times were announced and half of them were open. It's not like there's spies hiding in the trees. They even put up a windscreen in the parking lot above the stadium sometime last week because people were pulling up and watching from there.

A friend goes to nearly all AState practices and told of this guy at a scrimmage taking more notes than my friend takes.
After the Auburn game, Coach Anderson was in a seriously pissed off mood because he learned that Malzahn had paid a guy to go chart our scrimmage.

Yes. It is like there are spies in the trees.

I wish it was easier to hear the band in the stadium. I think the band should have seating in the end zone under bishop so that the sound carries throughout the stadium. Unless you're right next to the band or directly across from them, the sound gets lost. Makes doing chants really hard. Also not a fan of the several loud ads that constantly play on the video board. Really detracts from the atmosphere but I know we have to pay the bills.

So pretty much old vs young peeps lol

Came here to pretty much say that I do not like most of our older fans...lol.

Please elaborate

This isn't a very serious opinion and is full of generalizations, so take it as you will. For context, I'm an alumnus in my mid twenties and have been donating at the AD level in Yosef Club since I graduated. I'll just list some bullet points.
  • An overwhelming majority of those who wanted to stay FCS were in the K&W demographic. This is my biggest one, I cannot take your opinions about the program seriously if you really thought "staying a big fish in a little pond" was a viable option.
  • Most of the quiet and seated fans around me in on the home side are old and crusty. My friend's dad is in his 70's and still leads chants for us, gets up, high fives, etc. Get off your ass on 3rd down, or at the very least, don't heckle me for doing so.
  • A lot of you have that god awful Gorton's Fisherman Yosef on your shirts/hats/etc
  • I don't care what the "official lyrics" are, the fight song goes KICK ASS
  • DBI does not make good food

Separate "against the grain" opinions:
  • Beef is a form of BBQ, and it is pretty damn good...just not as good as pork
  • Country music is an abomination

This is an outstanding topic, BTW.

I want the track gone yesterday, but I really don't see the need to lower the field to get the stands three or four rows closer to the field. I doubt it will be an issue going forward, given the effort it took to drill three holes.

The snow-capped Block A helmet design from way back in the day is the dumbest look we've ever sported
Mich Ultra is better than craft beer
Playing in the lowest-tier bowl in the FBS is better than playing in the FCS National Championship
Baseball is boring
Police should not be allowed in the Student Tailgate
There isn't a single good Carolina Q restaurant in North Carolina west of Durham.
Victory Yosef is awesome
Wagon wheel is NOT a Darius Rucker original

I really hope that no one in our fanbase besides soccer moms hold this view. Especially when OCMS got their big break on King Street.

1. Playing in the lowest FBS bowl is better than playing for an FCS national championship.

2. We shouldn't have switched to artificial turf

3. Cole Swindell's music isn't good

4. GS moving significant portions of campus to Savannah isn't a bad thing

5. I'd rather play Wednesday on ESPN2 than Saturday on ESPN3

6. We need to expand Paulson and update the pressbox before worrying about the basketball arena and we will also still be able to fill the stadium if we did

I disagree with the ideas that Appalachian State should kiss the ground Eric Church walks on because he's an alum and that his dainty "welcome to the rock" is somehow better than Sean Connery's "WELCOME TO THE ROCK".

Well, Thank Gawd we don't ALL think alike . . . what a boring place that would be . .

I won't go through your response point by point, really no need as your replies are a reflection of old, stale, tired, and antiquated ideas. . . . But hang in there and keep pitching . .

I will agree that "casual college FB fans" also don't give a rats azzzz about CUSA. But, I'll also hang this onto that statement . . . Casual college football fan in TEXAS does give a rats azzzz about playing other TX football teams. They care about having an in-state rival, preferably one in conference.

And if you seriously think that our exposure is significantly better playing in The Belt than it would be in CUSA, well you're just flat out delusional. . . .

While they got bent over in their recent TV renegotiation, CUSA still has a slightly better TV deal than the Belt does . .. During the FB season, I can scroll through my sports package and come across 6 to 8 UTSA games broadcast on TV, not some glitchy espn 3 feed. That coupled with the in-state rivals the move would provide still makes it a no brainer for me . . . .

So, I guess we'll just agree to disagree. 04-cheers

GSU was not my first choice, it was the only 4 year my parents offered to pay for so I would commute.

Despite the attendance announcement, many home games have teetered safely in the four figure range.

GSU's academics aren't heads and shoulders above the conference; equivalent to being the biggest "Fun Size" bar in the candy bowl.

This is rarely mentioned so I'm unsure what is said in private, but hiring Bill Curry probably set us back 5 years as a program (still a class human).

NOW, having said all that, I am proud of what we have accomplished in 7 short years and do firmly honestly believe our future and trajectory are sky high! 03-cloud9

You are off Panama's Christmas card list fo sho...the honesty was refreshing. The needle is pointed up for GSU (how could it not be...I kid) but I still think GaSt has some huge obstacles to try and figure out. One being your #2.

BTW I think the needle it pointed up for 10 remaining teams none of us have hit the FBS ceiling yet.
