Georgia Southern to stream all sporting events for free
True Blue TV is the new subscription-less broadcast from GS Athletics. Along with broadcasting live events for all sports, fans will also be able to stream segments such as post-game press conferences, highlights, feature stories, Ask TK and Timeout with Trish. All features will continue to be free in addition to Georgia Southern radio broadcasts as well as archived video and audio of Eagle athletic events.

With all the cable-cutting and the implosion of ESPN, could individual streaming become the new norm for G5 teams? If that's the case, I'm glad to see GS is investing heavily in its own streaming capabilities because I fully believe that is where the new future "arms race" of the FBS lies.

Is "live events for all sports" equivalent to showing the actual games? If so, that's awesome!

Yes. True Blue TV is the revamped version of GS-All Access so all home games will be broadcast live.

awesome for the fans! I'll be interested to see how (or if) any of the other Belt athletic departments respond or follow suit

Yes. True Blue TV is the revamped version of GS-All Access so all home games will be broadcast live.

All home games were already available because they were on ESPN3 and not streamed by the school.

However, all other athletic events required a subscription.

This is GREAT news! Now I'd like to see GS continue to improve the quality of the stream. While watching our baseball streams, there are camera angles that appear to be high definition while other cameras have lower quality displays. As far as our basketball streams go...I REALLY hope GS updates the image quality. In this digital age, every G5 team should have top-notch streaming capabilities and should be working towards their own in-house networks. Our products should be accessible to the masses for little to no fees.

I guess I wondered, if you don't have a cable company to allow watchespn, will folks be able to watch regardless?

But this is still great!

This is pretty great. If lots of schools did this, it'd be cool to put together a G5 Roku (etc.) app where you could just open the app, pick the school, and stream the game.

I think that will be the future of college sports. The P5 have already jumped the gun and created Conference tv networks complete with a streaming app. I think it would be wise for the Sun Belt to hop on board in the near future.

Or post each school's live stream link in the "important links" section, like was done for each team's message board.

The only gap I see is apps for Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast etc.
