So in other words 600 season tickets instead of 500?

At ODU, there is a young alumni section in the end zone next to the student section (the worst seats in our stadium). You can get tickets there for $100. There is a family plan as well, buy 4 tickets for $169 each. But the rest of the stadium go for $199 a ticket. Obviously, that doesn't include the suites or the donations required for beer garden access or tailgating passes.
My tix were more than $199/ea FWIW.

There are cheap season tickets available for Charlotte in the end zone, they are $100 each with a minimum buy of (2). GA seating.

Care to go into further detail? I assume you're sitting in Ainslie, which I noted wasn't included in the pricing above. If I'm wrong, please add the information here as we're sharing for comparisons sake.

RE: Your School's Football Season Tickets Sold
Don't know this year's numbers or last year's for that matter but UTEP's season ticket sales have been in decline for a few years. Kugler ball has not inspired the sale of a lot of tickets. The highest at UTEP was back in the Price coaching era with over 24k.

2012..... 14,126
2013..... 13,332
2014..... 13,167

Not the trend you want to see. If the Miners don't start winning a few more than they lose, sales will only go down.

USM is usually the leader in season ticket sales with Marshall, ODU and UTSA doing well too.

Here's a tweet of the 2012-2014 season tickets sold by school. A thread back in the day attributes the stats from the UAB football study.

Western was in the 8k and change in 2015.

The numbers in the link sounds correct for those two seasons. Western had a record high of 9150 (might have been 9125) in 2009.

==============================================================================================

But things are not always as they seem.....

The total number sold tells one story and the total attendance tells another. The one that really matters tells a totally different one....

that would be dollars made off tickets sold

When you start looking at the dollars it's clear some schools are selling a ton of discounted tickets. While a few others put value on each ticket sold.

Just a example

2013 FIU 12036 in season tickets and without looking it up I think their avg attendance was in the 15k range. Yet FIU made $643,154 in 2013 on tickets sold

S. Miss sold 20910 in 2012 and just a guess on avg attendance I say 26k and they made $2,859,879 in 2012. 2013 (16361) S. Miss made $2,930,731 and 2014 (15587) $2,215,329. Some of the 2012 & 2013 money came from basketball....S.Miss was at the top of the conference those years. And S. Miss was packing the fans in.

Now lets look at UTEP 13K in season tickets for 2014 and I assume 25k+ in avg attendance. UTEP made $2,326,459 off tickets sold in 2014. But thats not telling the whole picture...

UTEP is also one of the highest in CUSA in basketball attendance usually around 7k. That money includes ALL tickets sold in both sports. So something is not adding up....

probably a lot of dollar night tickets are sold in both sports

Western avg around 17500 (7588 season tickets) or there about in 2014 for FB and around 4300 for basketball. With a total of $2,054,360 in tickets sold. I know for a fact Western brings in around $800,000 off 4200-4500 in basketball.

So that leaves 1.2 mil for fb tickets sold. Western has on avg 4500 students for each FB game which leaves 13,000 paying fans x 6 games = 78,000 or a avg of $15 a ticket

Now lets look at ODU in 2014 ...14700 in season tickets and 21,000 in avg attendance. ODU usually avg around 7000 in BB fans and I'm going to assume they are in line with Western on money off those tickets and give them 1.4 million made

in 2014 ODU made $3,576,261 off sold tickets so that leaves 2.1 for FB. and going by what I read I believe they set aside around 4,000 for students. That leaves 17,000 x 6= 102,000 which avg out to around $20 a ticket. Again going by post on this board on prices that seems to be close to a avg.

So to me it seems like some schools that are in the 25k range in avg attendance and stadiums that are in the 65% or below range of being full sell a lot of discounted tickets.

Marshall sold $3,326,138 in tickets for 2014 and they avg in the 24k range and Marshall also avg in the 5k range for basketball....

one or both of those are selling some cheap tickets just to get butts in those seats. For Marshall I assume that would be basketball because they are right at the top of CUSA in ticket prices on FB. I'm sure they have some family type deals that are cheaper. But most are in the $30+ range

Point is butts might matter.....dollars made off them are just as if not more important

I think you need to take into consideration the contribution column also when considering ticket sales. All of our schools tack a donation on to the right to buy season tickets. Is that money counted as ticket sales or contributions? UTEP had $1.3 million more than WKU in the combination of ticket sales and contributions for 2014, so maybe that's one consideration.

As far as I can remember when a college football game is reported in print or on-line, the box score lists attendance but not income for the game. I hope it stays that way because actual attendance does reflect the local interest in one's team. UTEP's level of interest locally is dwindling over the last few years and I hope that trend is reversed soon.

I agree donations are a big help to any program. With that dollars made off tickets sold will always be more important than the number of butts in those stands. Without the dollars it makes it that much harder to be a top 25-30 program.

So if the "interest" and dollars don't jive...

most ADs will choose the money over butts. Especially when a lot of those butts are cheap and only show up when they get in for next to nothing. The key is doing both...increasing attendance and getting fair value out of it. There is not one program in this conference that has mastered that.

That box score doesn't pay the bills

Utep could start by offering the traditional family package to non traditional families. In today's society, not all families consist of Mom and Pop, son and daughter. It could be argued that their family package is discrimination against non traditional families.

Once again Utep is behind the times and we suffer because of it.

Wow, those Charlotte tickets are expensive. I have new respect for their attendance considering how much it costs.

Family packs are usually just crappy seats they can't sell at a premium. I don't think they actually care if it's 4 friends or 4 sisters or whatever, do they? Who's checking to make sure only a traditional family is sitting in those seats? It's a section of the stadium at Marshall, the endzone corners. Not awful seats, but they aren't getting $35 a game for those so they offer a family deal on them. Pretty sure they don't care about the composition of the people that choose to purchase and use them.

I agree. No one is going to check at the time of purchase or at the time of entry into the stadium.

They absolutely do check. I know this because it happened to me the last time I had season tickets. I bought the family pack for my family which consist of me and my wife and two daughters. They would not let us in because my older daughter was over the age of 13 at the time and therefore, according to the ticket taker, could not use one of the tickets.

The following Monday, I went to the school and complained an it wasnt until then that they changed my tickets so that my daughter could attend the rest of the season.

However, they said the policy is for family packs was specifically for two adults and two children.

RE: Your School's Football Season Tickets Sold
Season ticket sales are not encouraging, we have only managed to sell 12500 by yesterday and since we have 1000 less to sell because of the deal with UNC we will have 500 left to sell instead of 1500. While i do not have any doubt in my mind about selling season ticks out i am concerned with the trend. I think we sold ~15k in 2013 and since then our numbers are dropping down slowly. I hope the stadium renovation/build will get more butts in the seats.

Our AD doesn't take into consideration how much it costs to take a family to a game. At the cheapest level, it breaks down like this for a single game:

4 GA Seats - $80
Parking - $20
Concessions - $30

In a city with the NFL, NBA, Nascar, Minor League Baseball, and Minor League Hockey you have to do better than that at least with ticket prices. Also, winning more than 4-5 games a year would help.

Utep could start by offering the traditional family package to non traditional families. In today's society, not all families consist of Mom and Pop, son and daughter. It could be argued that their family package is discrimination against non traditional families.

Once again Utep is behind the times and we suffer because of it.

I assume that you could have had one adult and three children?
I do find it odd that a 13 year old is considered an adult for ticket purposes. You would think that the cutoff would be 18 or 19. The age at which (hopefully) the kids are out of the house.

I personally think it's very short sighted to have this policy. We started out with 4 family packs in the end zone for UTSA games with only 3 of the 16 being under age 13. We've gone from that to club level seating with higher donations and 4 parking passes.

The point is to get people in with inexpensive seats to get them involved and willing to pay more for better locations. You're only hurting yourself when you put petty restrictions on the family seats.
