No one wants to talk UC basketball at all? Too early? Too excited about the football regime change?

I'm pretty pumped about basketball. I follow Cane Broome on social media and that kid is the exact type of PG I always want. He's a jitterbug with great athleticism. I think he'll be a ton of fun to watch and completely change how the team plays the game for the better. Kind of sucks that they'll be playing at NKU this year, but other than that I think we are in for a great year. Getting preseason love at 11 in BPI will be a giant help. No mountain to climb at the beginning of the season just to crack the top 25. And one of the few advantages to AAC is that once you get high enough in the rankings it's generally pretty easy to stay there.

Newark is beautiful in December.

But seriously, this could be a much better road trip than recent bowlcations. Let's hope CLF can win enough to get the 'Cats bowl eligible and basketball will be highly ranked for some excellent national TV games in December. Lots to look forward to!

Last year's premier game in this event (Notre Dame/Villanova) was on CBS so I'm assuming UF/UC will be too. Only good thing about Newark is hotels are dirt cheap (so are flights from IND to EWR) but I'm lucky enough to have a friend in Brooklyn I'll get to visit/stay with.

Ha yeah, Newark is pretty dumpy and the Prudential Center isn't great... I live in Manhattan though so I will definitely be there.

Im going, actually gonna be my first bearcats game. Been a huge fan for years but haven't been able to get to a game because of a bad work schedule and Cincy is a long trip for me. Im so excited to get to this game and meet other bearcat fans, nit many of us in Ottawa!

It's a cool bonus, but hardly a deciding factor. As far as recruiting the same level of players is concerned, we had a Top 10 recruiting class just last year. We were awful due to having a young, injury-ridden roster. Going forward, two 2018 Top 10 players have UCONN in their Final 5 (mind you we rarely landed Top 10 guys in the Calhoun era). Additionally, UCONN's past successes can be attributed to landing and developing Top 50-100 kids. We'll still be able to land those kind of recruits regardless of our conference affiliation.

Speaking for myself, and I suspect many fellow Bearcat fans, we want UCONN to be strong and return to winning a lot and being highly ranked. It's become a great rivalry and I hope it continues here, or competing together in some future power conference scenario. The UC v. UCONN basketball game remains the best rivalry in a young conference, producing some epic battles. Here's hoping both teams are ranked each time the cats and dogs tangle.

Completely agree. Cincinnati has become my #2 team as a result of this mess that we're both in today. I think we'll improve with Ollie, and if not, he will be replaced very soon (i.e. next season). I also believe Edsall will get us back to respectable 7-8 win football seasons (like the old Big East days). 04-cheers

I suspect Edsall will get you back to where you were, which is losing 77% (10-3) of the time to UC.

But can Mick can actually make the second weekend of the big dance. Or has that leprechaun simply run out of luck??? 07-coffee3

Can't wait to see that Ollie Face 2X this year. The man has done less with more
recently, and I hope the trend continues...

If I were UConn I'd be concerned with making the tournament.

If you can't make the second weekend of the tournament, wgaf about even making it in the first place? That's the difference between UCONN and UC...

One program has a shot at winning it all when they make it. The other is pleased to make it every year only to fizzle out in the opening rounds. 07-coffee3

I'll give you UConn's tourney success history with Jim Calhoun. Ollie's fluke NC win aside, UConn has only been to the tourney one other year during his five seasons and he didn't make it past the second round. Be careful because UConn is not far from getting a new coach and not making the tourney for several more years.
