Wow.
Strawman you say?
1. Nowhere in the article does it mention a teachers's union nor does it cite anywhere that teacher's unions refuse to support a bill making illegal to have sex with a student.
2. This case involved an 8th grade student, which unless they had been held back several years, would constitute a crime already present on the books in EVERY state.
Those are strawmen. Your nonsense about some non-existent bill and your nonsense about sex not being a crime when in this case it was. To refresh your "memory", this is from your link:
Quote:The Oklahoman reported in June that Jennifer Caswell pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and other charges in Harmon County District Court. Sentencing was set for Aug. 31.
The boy was 15 at the time of the crimes. The paper reported that Caswell was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
And no dude, I did not fail. You just are not intelligent enough to understand the point. You're advocating for some law to be put in place that will somehow magically stop the crime it covers from ever occurring again. You see, we have a law against murder, but they still happen. Get it? Do I really need to explain this to you?
And even if I buy your assertion that in some states it's not illegal to have sex with students, would that even be Constitutional? The only way it could not be illegal to begin with would be if the student was at the consenting age in that state.
Finally, the lawsuit was with the school district which had fired the teacher but did not revoke her teaching credentials. That has nothing to do with the union. But again, revoking her credentials and/or having a law against having sex with a student of any age, WOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED THE LADY FROM HAVING SEX WITH THE BOY!
