Cure Bowl
I got to thinking about the Cure Bowl in Orlando and found my self asking why they play in Camping World Stadium. The venue is much too large for the bowl. Why not move the game to Orlando City Stadium that has a 25,500 capacity. It would feel more like a bowl game than a high school game. Just wondering yalls thoughts and reason why or why not to move the site.

RE: Cure Bowl
Is OCSC's stadium being used at all for local high school football games? I know soccer teams hate their grass getting torn up by football but the bowl game is the perfect time of year to do it in the MLS off season. The Houston Dynamo lease their stadium to Texas Southern and the field ends up pretty crappy for soccer.

Plus the stadium just opened this year, after the Cure Bowl deals were made.

Not 100% sure but wanna say the Orlando FC Stadium wasn't available at the time when Cure Boel first was getting put together but it Wouldn't surprise me to see it get moved there once the current contract is up

I assume you mean Frisco Bowl. That's at FC Dallas' stadium.

RE: Cure Bowl
I'd prefer Camping World Stadium. If the bowl was played in a 25k football stadium and two teams like GS and UCF were picked for the game, you'd be losing out on so much ticket revenue. A GS v UCF matchup would have Camping World Stadium looking pretty full.

You think so? Even the Russell Athletic Bowl often looks empty. They typically draw 40k+.

I ought to knock your block off for confusing a Dallas team with Houston.

Assuming each team brings enough fans to fill a little more than half their home stadium, ~15k from GS and ~30k from UCF, that would be ~45k. Sure the stadium wouldn't be completely full but it definitely would be enough to justify playing in an NFL stadium. The NOLA bowl is never close to being full either but they aren't moving out of the Superdome anytime soon.

UCF had a game there and only had an attendance of 27k I doubt y'all would bring that many more than Arkansas state.

RE: Cure Bowl
Actually it seems It would make sense to move to SC rather than being the #3 Orlando bowl.

The Citadel's stadium. Who doesn't love a weekend trip to Charleston?

Or to Conway, to be near Myrtle Beach.

I'll take Charleston 8 days a week over Myrtle Beach, but I can't deny MB is a huge tourism draw.

Host an FBS bowl game in Citadel's 14,500 seat stadium? Really? Even Coastal's would be too small. Get real, guy.

RE: Cure Bowl
I like the Cure Bowl in Orlando. I do think it needs to move to Orlando City Stadium though. Thing about UCF playing there is that the only way they get there is after a very mediocre year, making it less likely fans buy tickets. Especially with a non major conference opponent.

I know some people think that football is meant for football stadiums, but some of these MLS Stadiums are really darn nice, and several have begun hosting football games recently.

RE: Cure Bowl
I don't think there's anything wrong with Orlando or the fact that the Cure bowl is the 3rd bowl game in the city. Orlando is a tourism super-city. Camping World Stadium is 65k capacity. That's not outrageously big. The biggest drawback to the Cure Bowl is that they get last pick. In 2015, attendance was awful because they had a 6-6 team with no fanbase versus a 5-7 team from the far side of the country. In 2016, they had a 6-6 UCF versus a 7-5 Arkansas State. Hardly an energizing, fanbase-mobilizing matchup. If Cure could get an SBC school from AL/GA/SC that had a great season and pit them against a Florida school that had a great season, attendance wouldn't be an issue at all.

Both Charleston and Myrtle Beach are trying to get bowls. The moratorium obviously hindered both efforts but I bet you see continued effort once the moratorium is lifted. Charleston has a head start but ran into a snag with the Citadel's stadium issues. For MB / Conway - while I agree that a 20k seat stadium isn't ideal there are some that would rather see a full 20k stadium rather than a half full 50k stadium.
