You seriously think these guys will be replaced by NON career politicians? 03-lol

They may start out that way, but they will arrive at it in short order.

EVERYBODY sent up there will become a career politician. We need term limits badly, and IMO only an outsider like Trump can actually get it done. Use it as a threat for now.

How can you seriously believe this? First, congress makes law, not the president. He can't enact term limits on his own. And second, so far trump hasn't been able to lead them on anything of real meaning or substance.

But I do agree that term limits would be a good start. In absence of that, drastically slashing the amount of wealth they can create would also accomplish much of this. They need to truly become public servants. But the only thing that can accomplish this in all reality is a public that accomplishes it together. Yeah...I'm not holding my breath...

Trump has a better shot at getting it done than anybody else since he is an outsider. He also has a better chance at getting challengers to incumbents to support term limits. If he could get a decent amount of new congressmen to support a 20 year (preferably shorter like 12 year) term limit and Trump's approval was significantly higher than congress as a whole, he may be able to get enough older members of congress to support term limits. With any other president that is a member of either party, term limits are a non-starter. IMO it's in the next 3-8 years or never.

I think you'll probably realize this in due time, but trump won't be able to deliver what you think he will. He's just not capable. The big question is whether you guys will ever actually admit it. 03-wink

This is what you get when you keep trying to build Rome in a day. This repeal and replace stuff isn't going to work in two swoops just because your sense of self commands it. This "dealmaking" Trump is doing now is just as effective as his dealmaking with the NFL as the owner of the NJ Generals. At least he got a dollar out of that.

There's no arguing that he thinks so.

He's great at getting people to invest in big buildings, can't find many people better.

But in his many other efforts at deal making, let's just say that he's fortunate to actually own his company because he may have been fired by the early 2000s otherwise.

What they need to do is what was not done for Obamacare either. Have a real investigation and fact finding process where they look at other systems to see what works--and what doesn't. Don't have kabuki charade hearings like in the Obamacare process. Have real hearings that are actually intended to produce factual information. If one approach proves itself as decidedly superior to the others--and I predict that Bismarck will--then it will be awkward for democrats not to climb onboard as Obamacare craters.

Thank you! For all the people who support single-payer, we can show them the trouble Canada has with wait times: 90ish days for diagnostic imaging in Ontario. We can get a realistic scenario of the implementation and the likely events to happen due to the difficulties of said implementation.

I have a feeling that the hearings would never be filtered to the citizens accurately though. CSPAN would have the only accurate coverage.

I agree wholeheartedly, unfortunately those currently in Washington care more about perpetuating their gravy train than doing anything to make anything better.........it's all strutting around for FaceTime - not actually doing anything. Giving the appearance of doing something while not really doing anything.

It won't change until they actually are forceably removed.

Trump hasn't been in office a year yet. Let's see how things play out 3-4 years from now.

Think about how little Obama really got done in 8 years.

Face it - the legislature really doesn't want to do anything..........

Sometimes deals require negative action. Criticizing Republican Senators for failing to do what they were elected to do is a logical step. Nobody likes Congress right now. What do you think will happen if Trump stirs the pot and riles up his base against the sitting GOP Senators?

I'd make the GOP Senators a little promise if I were Trump. I would promise them that unless they get on board and start following through on their campaign promises, I would make sure I tweeted every day about term limits and make that a major party of the campaign in 2020.

It's time to turn up the heat on the establishment in DC.

But that only works when you're running for election as an outsider. All this will accomplish now is put democrats in power.
Oh well. These spineless ***** played with fire. If Dems winning bigly in 2018 is what it takes to get some of these ******** out so be it.

Ignoring his criticisms is why we haven't already passed a **** bill. Ignoring his criticisms is why he has finally come full circle and is back on track with his campaign promise of repeal.
