this could be interesting... could probably start shifting California to the right if it wins.

Texas has a better chance of turning blue than California has of turning red. Trump won Texas 52-43 percent. Clinton won California 61-31.

And yes I realize California has had Republican Governors (and guess what, Texas has had Democratic Governors too).

Orange County isn't Republican anymore. And the rump Republicans still left there trend very religious.

Very few LGBT persons are going to vote for Jenner. She's not popular in the community and is seen as an entitled sell out.

As the GOP candidate, she might get 2 percent more from the Dems as any generic GOP candidate would, and would lose 15-20 percent of normal GOP voters.

Easy. Vote against Jenner. She's unreliable as an advocate for the community. And, quite frankly, has engaged in advocacy and behavior calling her advocacy of the community into question.

Just because she's Trans, doesn't mean she's the Trans candidate.

Just like Alan Keyes got voted down by a huge margin by African American voters in Maryland when he ran for Senate against a white incumbent.

We will all vote against Jenner, and no one will lose one bit of sleep over it.

----

You can't pick up the woman's vote by finding someone who supports a party that opposes issues important to women, simply because you nominated a random woman to represent you.

It doesn't work for Blacks, Hispanics, Jews, Gays, etc.

But the GOP certainly keeps trying.

----

Where the minority card DOES sometimes (but not always) works is when you have a candidate from a community that has a message that resonates within that community. That is how you get huge increases in support within a community with a candidate from that community.

But the left has told us ad naseum that he/she is a hero. How do you not vote for someone who you believe is the bravest hero on the planet?

RE: Caitlyn Jenner Considering GOP bid for U.S. Senate in California
Good gorsh, I had no idea Feinstein is 83. She's a walking heart attack. A Walking Dead extra. Strom Thurmond reincarnate. Jenner is 67. Not exactly a spring chicken but younger than 83. Here is more food for thought on Jenner's potential Senate run...

Quote:Should Republicans be excited about Caitlyn Jenner’s potential run for U.S. Senate in 2018?

One determining factor beyond that would be Jenner’s chances of winning, first the Republican nomination and then in the general. Senator Diane Feinstein, who is 83-years-old, has told reporters she intends to run again. On the Republican side, no major names have announced, and only one potential candidate would even make it interesting.

But certainly not as interesting as Jenner.

Jenner’s only tough competition for the GOP primary could be San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, who won reelection in 2016. The big-city Republican mayor would be a good candidate, but remember, this is still California we’re talking about. In the 2016 U.S. Senate election in California, a Republican didn’t even make it out of the jungle primary, and two Democrats ran against each other in the general.

That’s why Republicans have nothing to lose and everything to gain if Jenner runs in 2018.

Jenner is the only Republican — with maybe the exception of former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who isn’t much of a Republican anymore — who has a higher name identification rate than Feinstein. The level of attention this race would get would be unprecedented.

With an estimated $100 million net worth, Jenner also brings the ability to self-finance, but more importantly, the ability to self-promote. As we learned in the 2016 presidential race, famous candidates don’t need to out-raise their establishment opponents; they simply need to generate more media coverage than their opponents. Did we mention Jenner is pretty popular on Twitter?

On the issues, Jenner is a traditional Republican on every core value of the Republican Party, from taxes to guns to healthcare. Jenner recently spoke at the CRNC national convention and caused a stir for some politically incorrect remarks. This fits in with many of popular themes among the GOP base.

Some Republicans may be concerned with Jenner’s LGBT advocacy, but in California, most of the few Republicans left in the state tend to agree with Jenner on those issues. The bigger and more real concern from Republicans may be that the GOP is becoming the home of outlandish celebrity candidates. With Trump as president, both Jenner and Kid Rock are now looking at the 2018 Senate race.
Jenner Make California Great Again?

They did, but once conservatives finally stopped whining about it, the left started souring on her/him.

California has voted for celebrities before obviously. When I moved to Huntington Beach in 1977, our city councilman and then later mayor was Jack Kelly who was the other Maverick brother in the old TV series (James Garner was the more well-known actor from that series).

But Jenner running would be a waste of money. There will be plenty of very high profile Democrats who will drop out of the pending Governors' race if Feinstein is showing signs of retirement. My guess is Newsom or Garcetti would be the main two to be the Democratic nominee if she did retire (assuming Newsom isn't the governor by then).

Flair's named was mentioned heavily pre social media days.

It fizzled out though, which is probably for the best knowing what we know in the modern social media era.
