First good thing for canes fans since the season went sour in mid February.

Crazy game in Winnipeg last night!

Preds go up 3-0 in the first period.

Winnipeg responds by scoring 4 in the second.

A couple of empty netters at the end of the game lead to a final score of 7-4 Winnipeg.

Jets lead the series 2-1.

Vegas has been a feel-good story this year, but as they stand on the verge of a WCF berth I'm starting to root against them out of spite for the fact that I don't wanna see a team win the Stanley Cup in year one when Blues fans are still waiting after fifty-one...

The Blues don't have one?

WOW, now all of a sudden, as a Hurricanes fan, I feel somewhat better.

Pick your poison - years of disappointment with decent to great teams, or crushing mediocrity with one golden season to look back on. I think there isn't a more fitting name for a sports franchise than the Blues.

Well, I mean the Canes had the great runs in the early 00's that lead to facing the Red Wings in the finals then a small break and came back in the mid 00's to actually win it. But after winning it.... had one inspired season in '08 or '09 that was a decent run, but otherwise its been a HUGE playoff drought.

Who would've thought at the beginning of the year that we'd be looking at a Jets vs. Knights conference final? And until the final buzzer sounds I still think the Caps will find a way to choke this away, the Penguins are their kryptonite.

IMO, they are kind of like the Sharks over the last 10 years... have had the talent and the playoff bids, but never the success they should have. For them to clear the mental hurdle of beating the Penguins will probably do one of two things... they get the confidence to dominate in the next round OR they blew their wad to get by them and will go out fast in the next round.

The Bolts are pretty legit.

Maybe, maybe not. I thought when the Blues beat the Hawks in the first round a few years ago we would go all the way before those very Sharks stonewalled us in the WCF. You never know how a team will react to the pressure of new playoff territory.

Only 1 Cup between the Final Five teams. Love this year.

And if it wasn’t for the skate in the crease goal in ‘04 it could be 0 Cups.

Fitting Game 7 comes down to the 2 loudest arenas in the sport (Winnipeg & Nashville).

The Jets and the Preds have two of the biggest arenas in the NHL?

Litterlay, I have just come from NHL.com to see if something hit about the Hurricanes head coaching position and saw this article and came here to post said article.

*************

Random thoughts thought out loud...

Great/HoF player who transitioned to an assistant coach for the same team.

Can he, as the head man, make that transition ...think Larry Bird and his coaching tenure with the Pacers.... Mark Jackson and the Warriors

How does Ron Francis and Rod Brind'amour work at their current level in the organization, even if nothing ever brewed up in their prior positions.

Still need to get a GM and we still have to assess plans with that 2nd pick. When a team could either be in a situation of needing a lot or needing a coach to get it done with what is there that pick and do a lot of work for you in talent acquisition via drafting picks or trades.

Here is what is f'd with the world...

Game 7 between the Jets and the Preds puts the two former Hurricanes coaches who took the team to the finals against each other with Laviolette(sp?) getting it done. Where are the Canes? Sitting at home wishing they were there.

Jets and Knights for for the WCFs in the NHL.

Caps and Bolts for ECFs.

I'd go Knights in 6

Caps in 7.... TIGHT 7.
