Not bad for a place that killed off football.

Not bad. Provides all-weather, day/night practice facilities absent the ability for punts & FG attempts.

I assume they will make that an IPF and not leave it open?

UAB will pay $4.7 million for the pavilion instead of about $15 million for a regular indoor facility, Ingram said. Since walls don't need to be built, UAB will save significant money by not paying for windows, doors, air conditioning, a fire and sprinkler system, and additional lighting that would be needed for a truly enclosed indoor field.

"If it's raining, the field is dry. If it's hot, you're under shade," Ingram said. "So what do we need the walls for? At the end of the day, what are we talking about? It doesn't get cold here.

Geez. Memphis is spending $40 million on their IPF. Not of the line or are they getting fleeced?

RE: Pic of the new UAB football facilities.
Of note: Georgia's just opened at a cost of $30.2 million.

Miami (Fl) is breaking ground on a $34 million dollar facility.

Looks like UNC is building one for about $32 million.

At $40 million, Memphis should literally have one of the best in the nation, for a while.

I drove by it on Sunday and Monday. From the I-65 viaduct it doesn't look half bad.

I thought it was $40 million for the IPF and basketball practice facility?

Trust me, recruits aren't going to care that UAB got a 'deal' and saved money by not building an IPF for their players.

They're going to smile and laugh.

instead of snark, just be happy for them...it beats the hell out of not having a football program.

congrats UAB and welcome back!

I agree wholeheartedly, re: UAB.

However, we are not UAB.

We're getting an IPF, not some pavilion.

Now all their fans have to do is bring their lawn chairs with them and sit behind the endzone for games. Who needs Legion Field?

I am happy for UAB fans for the return of their football program and their practice facility looks nice and practical.

They got this and a football operations building when they had a trailer. It makes sense serves the purpose their not recruiting against P5 schools.

I saw the schematics for this a few years ago and I thought it was smart then and I think it's smart now. C'mon, it's UAB; they killed their own program before bringing it back - recruits know their financial problems. Good for them for being smart and addressing a need at a fraction of the cost.
